Dongfeng and Huawei's joint brand Yijing launched its first model, the X9, on September 24 in China. The large six-seat SUV is available in four trims, with guide prices ranging from 289,800 to 369,800 yuan (about $40,800 to $52,100). A limited-time 10,000-yuan trade-in subsidy brings the effective price down to 279,800–359,800 yuan ($39,400–$50,700). All prices are Chinese guide prices before taxes and incentives, according to NetEase Auto.
Huawei tech throughout
The X9 is built on the HarmonySpace 6 cockpit and comes standard with Huawei's Qiankun ADS 5 advanced driver assistance system, including an 896-line dual-optical-path image-grade lidar. Mid and top trims add three more solid-state lidars, five 4D millimeter-wave radars, and a total of 32 high-performance sensors. The system supports urban NOA (city advanced driver assistance) and can handle non-standard roads like rural tracks and campus areas, with a feature that enables assisted driving from parking spot to parking spot.
The cabin features dual 17.2-inch screens with 3.4K resolution, a 21.4-inch ceiling screen, and a 21-speaker 7.1.4 surround sound system. A small AI companion robot called Hamomo adds interactive charm, while the Xiaoyi voice assistant can plan routes, remind about weather, and even play music based on mood. An in-cabin sensing system monitors all seats, alerts if a child is left behind, and includes cameras that can be physically shut off for privacy.
Range and performance
The X9 is an EREV (range-extender electric vehicle), combining a 1.5T engine with an electric motor. The all-wheel-drive version produces 420 kW (563 hp) combined and accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 5.1 seconds. It rides on an 800V architecture with a choice of 51.46 kWh or 74.29 kWh batteries, offering CLTC electric-only ranges of 280 km, 432 km, or 465 km (approximately 238-395 km WLTP, est.). Total range reaches up to 1,570 km on a full tank and charge.
The SUV measures 5,301 mm long with a 3,120 mm wheelbase, seating six in a 2+2+2 layout. It features dual zero-gravity rear seats with massage functions, a third row that reclines up to 133 degrees, and a boot capacity ranging from 484 liters with all seats up to 1,368 liters with four seats. The chassis uses double-wishbone front and multi-link rear suspension, with dual-chamber air springs, continuous damping control, and rear-wheel steering.
