Deepal launches 2027 L06 and L06 Aero Edition from 114,900 yuan

Deepal has launched the 2027 L06 and a new L06 Aero Edition, with limited-time prices starting at 114,900 yuan (about $16,200). The models feature a magnetorheological suspension, an upgraded driver-assistance system with lidar, and a new AI-powered cockpit.

Deepal, the electric-vehicle brand under Changan, has launched the 2027 L06 and a new L06 Aero Edition in China, according to NetEase Auto. The 2027 L06 has a limited-time price starting at 114,900 yuan (about $16,200), while the Aero Edition starts at 151,900 yuan (about $21,400). These are Chinese guide prices before taxes and incentives. The company is also offering a package of 12 bonuses valued at up to 62,758 yuan (about $8,840) for customers who place orders.

The 2027 L06 is an upgrade over the current model, with improvements in handling, cabin technology and driver assistance. The headline feature is a magnetorheological suspension that adjusts damping 1,000 times per second, a response speed Deepal says is 20 times faster than a conventional continuously controlled damping (CDC) system, with six times the adjustment range. The system is designed to keep the body flat through corners, stabilize the car during emergency lane changes, and reduce pitching on undulating roads. An upgraded version of the suspension uses a lower-viscosity fluid and micro-finished cylinders for smoother filtering of small bumps.

The suspension is standard on the 2027 L06 Ultra, Ultra+ and Aero Edition trims. All versions also get a tire blowout stability system.

Driver assistance and cockpit upgrades

The 2027 L06 comes with Deepal's Tianshu driver-assistance system, which uses a world model and reinforcement learning to improve prediction. Deepal claims a 30% improvement in traffic-flow efficiency, reaction times 30% faster than the average human driver, and a 90% reduction in hard-braking events compared with non-end-to-end algorithms. The system supports more than 90 driver-assistance functions, including urban and highway NCA (navigation-guided assisted driving) and automated parking. A new "urban autonomous roaming" feature, which Deepal says is an industry first, lets the car drive itself along the current road without a preset destination, handling complex situations without clear lane markings.

Hardware includes one lidar unit and three millimeter-wave radars on all trims except the base MAX version, totaling 27 sensors, powered by two Horizon Journey 6M chips with 256 TOPS of computing power. The lidar can detect pedestrians in dark clothing at night at twice the range of a normal camera, Deepal says.

The cockpit runs on a 3-nanometer automotive-grade chip and includes two AI assistants: a local "AI Box" that works offline, and a cloud-based "AI Agent." The AI Box, powered by an Intel Core Ultra chip, can warn of low obstacles at startup, detect water on the road when parking in rain, suggest activating sentinel monitoring in complex parking situations, and identify parking space numbers for easier car-finding. The AI Agent handles voice commands with fuzzy logic, can plan complex trips such as "pick someone up, go for hotpot, find parking on the way," supports more than 10 Chinese dialects and seven character personalities, and remembers each user's preferences.

The cabin retains a 15.6-inch 2.5K touchscreen, a 50-inch AR head-up display and a 7.1.4-channel audio system. A new purple-and-white interior option adds Nappa-style upholstery on the center console, with soft-touch coverage across 90% of the cabin. The driver's seat gains massage, 10-way electric adjustment and a heated steering wheel.

Aero Edition and powertrain options

The L06 Aero Edition adds a track-focused aerodynamic package with a front splitter, side skirts and a fixed carbon-fiber rear wing. Deepal says the package generates up to 1,000 N of downforce at a top speed of 210 km/h (130 mph). It rides on 19-inch two-tone wheels and features a black interior with gold seat belts and stitching.

Powertrain choices remain pure electric and range-extender. The BEV (battery-electric) version uses a rear-mounted 200 kW (268 hp) motor with CLTC range options of 560 km (348 miles) or 670 km (416 miles). The EREV (range-extender) version pairs a 1.5-liter engine as a generator with a 175 kW (235 hp) rear motor and a CLTC electric-only range of 245 km (152 miles). Note that CLTC figures are typically 15-20% more optimistic than the WLTP standard, so real-world range will be lower.
