China's 11th automotive EMC conference crowns four models for electromagnetic safety

The 11th Automotive Electromagnetic Compatibility Technology Conference, held in Qingdao, awarded four models - including the Xiaomi Pengcheng N90 Max and Chery Fengyun A9 - as 2026 electromagnetic protection vehicles of the year, highlighting the industry's focus on EM safety in intelligent EVs.

The 11th Automotive Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Technology Conference concluded in Qingdao on September 23, 2026, with organizers recognizing four models for outstanding electromagnetic protection performance. The event, themed "Riding the Trend, Smart Electromagnetics," was hosted by CATARC New Energy Vehicle Testing Center (Tianjin) Co., Ltd. (CATARC New Energy) and drew more than 200 experts and industry representatives from China and abroad, according to PCauto.

EMTA2026 certification highlights

During the conference, CATARC New Energy held the EMTA2026 (Automotive Electromagnetic Protection Technology Verification) certification ceremony, granting awards across three dimensions: human electromagnetic health, assisted-driving electromagnetic safety, and vehicle electromagnetic smooth operation. In total, 10 models received certification for human electromagnetic health, 5 for assisted-driving electromagnetic safety, and 13 for vehicle electromagnetic smooth operation.

Among the certified vehicles, four were named 2026 Electromagnetic Protection Vehicles of the Year: the Xiaomi Pengcheng N90 Max, the Chery Fengyun A9, the Galaxy Warship 700, and the Buick Zhijing E7. The verification process is based on typical consumer usage scenarios and electromagnetic safety risks, helping automakers identify potential hazards during the development phase and improve product safety.

Industry exchange and future outlook

The conference featured more than 20 presentations from experts and industry leaders, covering topics such as EMC standards and regulations, intelligent connected vehicle technology, new-energy drive EMC technology, and electromagnetic ecological environments. Speakers included Ma Jijun, secretary-general of the China Association for Consumer Products Quality and Safety Promotion, Zhang Jiahe, deputy general manager of China Automotive Technology Research Center Co., Ltd., and Li Erping, a foreign academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.

The automotive EMC conference, now in its 11th year, has become a key platform for China's automotive industry to address electromagnetic challenges, improve quality and safety, and foster collaborative innovation. Organizers said the event will continue to focus on new trends and opportunities in automotive electromagnetic safety, supporting the industry's high-quality development as it transitions toward smarter and more electrified vehicles.
