Chery's September NEV sales top 133,000, six straight months above 100,000

Chery Group sold 133,310 new-energy vehicles in September, up 45.6% year on year, marking its sixth consecutive month above 100,000 units and keeping it among China's top three NEV wholesalers.

Chery Group sold 133,310 new-energy vehicles in September, up 45.6% year on year and a record for a single month, according to Gasgoo. The company has now topped 100,000 new-energy vehicle (NEV) sales for six straight months and ranked among China's top three NEV wholesalers for the same period.

In the first nine months of the year, Chery sold 858,524 new-energy vehicles in total, placing it third behind BYD and Geely in wholesale volume, according to data from the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA). The company's NEV lineup includes battery-electric vehicles (BEVs), plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) and range-extenders (EREVs).

Battery and model push

Chery's Rhino battery family now spans three lines: the E series for pure-electric models with ultra-fast charging, the H series for hybrids with a cycle life of 5,000 charges, and the S series solid-state cells with an energy density above 400 Wh/kg, which are scheduled for vehicle validation in 2027. The batteries have passed all 24 safety items in China's new national standard plus 28 additional safety checks.

On the model front, the all-new QQ3 mini EV has exceeded 10,000 monthly sales for six consecutive months and still holds about 100,000 pending orders. The Fengon A9 sedan delivered more than 7,000 units in September and received over 20,000 orders in the month, while the Fengon T7 delivered 6,168 units and has more than 16,000 orders in hand. The iCAR V23 SUV has surpassed 100,000 global sales.

Export strength

Chery exported 529,337 new-energy vehicles in the first three quarters, up 136% year on year and roughly one-seventh of China's total NEV exports. The OMODA and JAECOO brands have together sold more than 1.3 million units globally, with the JAECOO 7 topping the UK sales chart and the JAECOO 5 winning segment titles in Australia and other markets.

The luxury off-road NEV brand Zongheng G700, launched 11 months ago, has sold over 30,000 units worldwide and ranks first among Chinese luxury SUVs in eight countries including Saudi Arabia. From January to August, Chery's global NEV market share reached 5.5%, putting it among the world's top five auto groups, the company said.
