Chery's Jetour Traveler 7 opens pre-sale from 149,900 yuan in China

Chery's Jetour brand has opened pre-sales for the new Traveler 7 boxy SUV and its C-DM plug-in hybrid version, with prices starting at 149,900 yuan and 159,900 yuan respectively.

Chery's Jetour brand has opened pre-sales for the new Traveler 7, the latest evolution of its boxy SUV line, with prices starting at 149,900 yuan (about $21,100) for the petrol version and 159,900 yuan (about $22,500) for the C-DM plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variant, according to NetEase Auto. The Chinese guide prices are before taxes and incentives.

Dual powertrains

The Traveler 7 is offered with a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox, while the C-DM version combines a 1.5-litre turbo engine with a three-motor all-wheel-drive system. The hybrid model packs a 45.12 kWh battery from CATL and claims a CLTC pure-electric range of 251 km (about 156 miles), with a combined range of 1,400 km (about 870 miles). CLTC figures are typically 15-20% more optimistic than WLTP, so the equivalent WLTP estimate would be around 200-213 km (about 124-132 miles) for electric-only driving.

The C-DM variant features a "true four-wheel drive" that works in both charged and depleted states, according to Jetour. Both models come with a 15.6-inch central touchscreen, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8255 cabin chip and an AI assistant powered by iFlytek's Spark large language model.

Boxy design, smart driving

The Traveler 7 retains the upright, boxy silhouette that has defined Jetour's Traveler series, with a raised bonnet, round headlights and a full-width light bar. It measures 4,827 mm long, 2,006 mm wide and 1,875 mm tall, with a 2,800 mm wheelbase. The cabin includes massage front seats and a 23-speaker audio system.

For driver assistance, the SUV is equipped with a "Falcon 500" system built around Horizon Robotics' Journey 6M chip, offering highway NOA (navigation on autopilot) and automated parking. Jetour also highlighted its XWD intelligent four-wheel-drive system, which requires no manual switching between modes.

Jetour said the Traveler series has sold more than 570,000 units globally since its launch three years ago, making it the best-selling boxy SUV line in China. The brand has expanded to 100 countries and regions over eight years, with cumulative sales of 2.51 million vehicles.

The company also outlined a broader "travel ecosystem" strategy, including 10,000-plus travel accessories, official JMK modification kits, partnerships with 360 companies covering dining, hotels and scenic spots, and 3,000-plus service stations along popular self-driving routes.

The Traveler 7 pre-sale runs with promotional offers including cash discounts, trade-in allowances, data packages, charging credits and extended warranties. Deliveries are expected to begin after the official launch, though Jetour has not yet confirmed a date.
