At the 2026 Paris Motor Show, which opened on October 12, Chinese automaker Chery presented its European strategy, unveiling new models and detailing its local manufacturing and sustainability efforts. The company, exhibiting under the CHERY and OMODA&JAECOO brands, also launched an industry-academia initiative aimed at fostering sustainable supply chains and low-carbon manufacturing, according to Gasgoo.
European expansion and product lineup
Chery displayed five models under its CHERY brand: TIGGO4, TIGGO7, TIGGO8, TIGGO9, and CHERYQ. The company introduced a new European brand slogan, "For EU. For Family." Meanwhile, OMODA&JAECOO debuted the OMODA4 in France and the OMODA5 in Europe, both featuring the fifth-generation SHS super hybrid system. Since its launch in 2023, the OMODA&JAECOO brand has entered 79 global markets, including 23 in Europe, with cumulative sales approaching 1.4 million vehicles.
Chery's European operations center opened in April 2026, and a research institute in Spain has been established, completing a "1+7+N" R&D network. The company is also working with EV MOTORS to revive the EBRO factory. From January to September, Chery sold 292,000 vehicles in 24 European countries, a 182% year-on-year increase, with new energy vehicles surpassing 146,000 units, up 251%.
Sustainability commitments and certifications
On the evening of October 12, Chery released its first sustainability report for the EU, a voluntary disclosure prepared in accordance with the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), including a double materiality assessment. The EBRO project has created over 1,000 local jobs. Chery aims to achieve carbon neutrality in its own operations by 2037 and across its full value chain by 2047, focusing on expanding its new energy vehicle lineup and enhancing supply chain decarbonization.
The company has completed full life-cycle carbon footprint calculations for all models sold in Europe. The JAECOO 7 SHS received a China-EU carbon footprint data mutual recognition certificate from DEKRA, the first such certification for a Chinese automaker. Key environmental and social metrics were independently assured by TUVNORD.
