Chery has launched the new QQ3 Modern Edition, the first official custom version of its QQ3 series, at an event in Wuhu, Anhui province. The car starts at a Chinese guide price of 88,900 yuan (about $12,500) before taxes and incentives, with an additional-purchase price of 86,900 yuan and a trade-in price of 83,900 yuan, according to D1EV.
The Modern Edition is based on a Neo Retro design language, offering two exclusive paint options: a retro green called "Modern Times" and a creamy apricot named "Anne Pearl." It features chrome trim, a racing-style decal, and body-colored wheel arches and side skirts. The car measures 4,229 mm long, 1,812 mm wide, and 1,573 mm tall, with a 2,700 mm wheelbase.
Inside, the cabin gets a new "Cloud Rice" color scheme with velvet headliner, A/B pillars, and sun visors, plus houndstooth-pattern inserts on the dashboard, seats, and door panels. It includes dual smart vanity mirrors with adjustable color temperature and brightness, a heated steering wheel, and 256-color ambient lighting that syncs with music.
Tech and safety
The Modern Edition features a 15.6-inch 2.5K touchscreen with an 88% screen-to-body ratio, powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip and Chery's Carmind AI large model. It supports natural-language voice interaction, smart vehicle controls, and multi-protocol phone connectivity. The car offers L2-level driver assistance, a 540-degree camera view, and automatic parking for over 100 scenarios. It also includes voice control for the front and rear trunks, external speaker announcements, and remote preconditioning via an app.
Safety equipment includes a five-longitudinal, eight-lateral cage body structure with 82% high-strength steel and 16% hot-formed steel, plus a 1,300 MPa integrated hot-formed door ring. The standard Rhino battery uses CATL cells and has a 360-degree protective casing with IP68 waterproofing. The car comes with six airbags and active safety features such as automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and forward/rear collision warning.
Powertrain and range
Built on a dedicated BEV (battery-electric) platform with rear-wheel drive and a ten-in-one integrated e-drive system, the Modern Edition offers two motor options: 58 kW (78 hp) and 90 kW (121 hp), with peak torque of 90 Nm and 115 Nm respectively. Battery options are 29.48 kWh and 41.28 kWh, providing CLTC ranges of 310 km and 420 km (approximately 260-360 km WLTP, est.). Fast charging from 30% to 80% takes as little as 16.5 minutes, and the car supports 6.6 kW vehicle-to-load discharge.
The suspension uses MacPherson struts up front and a multi-link setup at the rear, with a minimum turning radius of 5.2 meters. Chery also showcased six custom-modified QQ3s at the launch, highlighting the model's personalization potential. The QQ3 series has sold over 10,000 units per month for five consecutive months, with August sales reaching 19,103 units and cumulative orders exceeding 100,000 globally.
