Changan's Qiyuan brand launched the Q06 SUV in China on September 23, with a limited-time starting price of 135,900 yuan (about $19,140) for the entry version, according to NetEase Auto. The model is offered in two powertrain variants: a battery-electric (BEV) version and a range-extender (EREV) version, the latter combining an electric motor with a small gasoline engine used solely to charge the battery.
Design and interior
The Q06 is styled around what Changan calls "flowing light aesthetics," with a low, wide body, a large grille, and a full-width "smile" light bar at the front. It measures 4,837 mm long, 1,970 mm wide and 1,670 mm tall, with a 2,940 mm wheelbase. The drag coefficient is 0.27 Cd. Seven exterior colors are offered, including a "sunset purple" and a "rose" shade.
Inside, the cabin features a 15.6-inch 2.5K central touchscreen, a 15.6-inch rear ceiling entertainment screen, a 49-inch head-up display and a 10.2-inch instrument cluster. The system runs on a 4-nanometer 8676 chip that powers Changan's Tianshu Cockpit 2.0 AI assistant, which supports complex voice commands. All seats can recline to a zero-gravity position, with ventilation, heating and massage functions. The rear seatbacks recline up to 145 degrees. Storage includes a 9.5-liter dual-temperature fridge, a 782-liter boot and a 196-liter front trunk.
Powertrain and range
The EREV version has a combined range of up to 1,600 km. The BEV version comes with either a single motor (225 kW or 245 kW, roughly 302 hp or 329 hp) or a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup with a combined 330 kW (about 443 hp), which accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds. Battery options are 63.18 kWh, 66.02 kWh, 72.54 kWh and 80.02 kWh, with a maximum claimed CLTC range of 700 km (roughly 560-595 km WLTP, est.). The car is built on an 800V silicon-carbide platform and supports 6C fast charging, taking the battery from 30% to 80% in nine minutes. Prices are Chinese guide prices before taxes and incentives.
The Q06 comes standard with a 256-line lidar and Changan's Tianshu Navigation Ultra driver-assistance system, which uses an end-to-end AI model. The system covers highway, city and parking scenarios, including automatic lane changes, unprotected left turns at complex intersections, and parking in spaces only 50 cm wider than the car. A "follow companion" mode lets the car lock onto a target vehicle during group drives. The automatic emergency braking system operates at speeds up to 150 km/h and can bring the car to a stop from 135 km/h.
Changan says the Q06 brings features typically found in vehicles priced above 300,000 yuan (about $42,250) down to the 200,000-yuan segment, including a front double-wishbone suspension. The launch is part of Changan's broader "digital intelligence" strategy for its Qiyuan brand, which aims to compete in China's crowded mid-size SUV market.
