Changan Qiyuan Q06 launches from 135,900 yuan with Tianshu ADAS suite

Changan's Qiyuan brand launched the Q06 SUV on September 23, starting at 135,900 yuan ($19,140) with a limited-time price. The model debuts the Tianshu ADAS system, featuring a 256-line LiDAR and a 560 TOPS chip, and is available as a BEV or EREV.

Changan's Qiyuan brand unveiled the Q06, a new compact SUV, at a launch event in Hangzhou on September 23. Positioned as a "new sharp tech smart SUV," the Q06 is the first model to feature the Tianshu ADAS suite, which includes a 256-line LiDAR, a 560 TOPS computing chip, and a redundant central ring network. The system uses an end-to-end large model to link perception and action, and a vision-language model to understand road text and natural language commands, according to Chinese outlet First Electric (D1EV).

The Q06 is offered in two powertrain variants: a pure electric (BEV) and a range-extender (EREV). The limited-time launch price starts at 135,900 yuan (about $19,140), a Chinese guide price before taxes and incentives. An optional upgrade to the Tianshu Navigation Ultra hardware and software package is available for an additional 9,900 yuan (about $1,394) during the launch period. Changan also announced a special edition, the Q06 670 dual-motor smart version, available through its Tmall official store starting September 23.

ADAS and safety features

The Tianshu Navigation system, which Changan says has been tested over 1 million kilometres across 45 Chinese cities, integrates highway and city NCA (navigation-assisted driving), over 400 smart parking scenarios, and 31 active safety features. The system can handle complex urban situations, such as reading light-controlled screen text at waiting zones and responding to cut-ins. It also supports a "follow companion" mode for convoy driving and a "park anywhere" function that can handle unmarked spaces.

Safety is a key focus: the all-scenario AEB can trigger emergency braking at speeds from 0 to 150 km/h, with the ability to stop from up to 135 km/h. A "anti-sandwich" AES function can steer around obstacles if a rear collision is imminent. The car's chassis features a full-aluminum front double-wishbone and rear five-link suspension, paired with a dual-motor rear-wheel-drive setup that eliminates the traditional mechanical differential, allowing independent torque control for each rear wheel. This helps on slippery slopes and in the event of a blowout at speeds up to 190 km/h, the system can keep the vehicle stable.

Interior and comfort

Inside, the Tianshu cockpit 2.0 includes a voice assistant that can handle multi-step commands like "I'm a bit cold, and navigate home on the way." All four seats have massage, ventilation, and heating functions, and the rear seats recline up to 145 degrees. With the rear seats folded, the cargo space expands to 2,200 liters. Additional features include a 9.5-liter dual-layer refrigerator, a rear entertainment screen with anti-shake and anti-blue-light technology, and a voice-controlled sunshade.

The Q06 is part of Changan's strategy to bring high-end technology to the mainstream market, offering features typically found in vehicles priced at 300,000 to 400,000 yuan (about $42,300 to $56,300) at a more accessible price point. The model is now available at dealerships across China, with orders open.
