BYD reveals third-generation Tang interior with 30-inch panoramic screen

BYD's third-generation Tang flagship SUV shows two interior designs, a 30-inch panoramic display and a 35.4-inch star ring screen, targeting the 220,000-260,000 yuan segment.

BYD has released the first official interior images of its third-generation Tang flagship SUV, revealing a cabin built around a seamless 30-inch panoramic screen that spans the full width of the dashboard. The images, posted by Lu Tian, general manager of BYD's Dynasty network sales division, show two distinct interior themes aimed at different family tastes.

According to PCauto, the first interior uses a sandy dune beige color scheme paired with a minimalist oval single-spoke steering wheel, projecting a clean, tech-forward look. The second adopts an amber brown palette with a more conventional three-spoke dual-tone round steering wheel, leaning toward a premium, luxurious atmosphere. Both designs keep the 30-inch display as the visual centerpiece, with the screen surface seamlessly integrated into the dashboard like a framed picture in a living room.

Star Ring screen and flexible seating

The beige version features what BYD calls the industry-first "Star Ring dual screen" layout, first shown at the Chengdu Auto Show. Above the main panoramic display sits a 35.4-inch curved strip screen that consolidates vehicle speed, navigation, time and weather information, evoking a spaceship control console. The amber brown variant instead uses a conventional standalone instrument cluster for simpler information reading.

BYD may also equip the third-generation Tang with the Devialet audio system used in the Tang EV, pairing the large display with high-end sound. The SUV adopts a five-seat layout rather than six or seven seats, prioritizing space for families of three or four. Second-row legroom exceeds 1,000mm, comparable to a D-segment sedan, and the backrest reclines up to 130 degrees, beyond the recline angle of business-class airline seats.

The seating is flexible beyond standard configurations. Both the rear and front seats can fold flat to form a bed, allowing families camping to create a large sleeping area without emptying the trunk. BYD hints at additional space functions to be revealed later.

Targeting the 220,000-260,000 yuan flagship segment

Earlier disclosures indicate the third-generation Tang will offer a claimed 850km pure electric range (CLTC), all-wheel drive, flash charging, Yunian-A dual-chamber air suspension and the "God's Eye B" advanced driver assistance system. The exterior features a one-piece headlamp assembly with the highest integration in its class.

The third-generation Tang is expected to be priced between 220,000 and 260,000 yuan (about $31,000 to $36,600, Chinese guide price before taxes and incentives) and is scheduled to launch in the fourth quarter. The 850km CLTC range would translate to roughly 680-720km under the WLTP cycle (est.), reflecting the more optimistic nature of the Chinese testing standard.

BYD positions the model as a technology-first redefinition of the large five-seat SUV flagship standard, blending the panoramic screen, Star Ring display and premium audio into a cohesive design language.
