Beijing will host a new automotive trade show in March 2027, an offshoot of the city's flagship Auto China exhibition, according to a press conference held on September 24 at the China International Exhibition Center (Shunyi Hall). The 2027 Beijing International New-Quality Auto and Future Smart Mobility Exhibition will run from March 27 to April 5, 2027, a total of 10 days, across the Shunyi Hall and the Capital International Convention and Exhibition Center.
The event is designed as a single-year continuation of Auto China, which has been held every two years since its debut in 1990. Organizers said the new show will focus on what they term "new-quality" vehicles, a concept that emphasizes intelligent, green and integrated development in the auto industry. The first two days, March 27-28, will be media days, followed by professional visitor days on March 29-30, with the public admitted from March 31 to April 5. A dedicated parts and components zone will run from March 27 to 30.
The announcement comes after Auto China 2026, held earlier this year, set records for the global auto show circuit. That edition covered 380,000 square meters of exhibition space, drew more than 1,000 exhibitors from home and abroad, and displayed 1,451 vehicles, including 181 world premieres and 71 concept cars. It attracted 1.28 million visitors, according to organizers cited by the news outlet NetEase Auto.
Focus on smart driving and manufacturing
The 2027 show will expand its scope beyond finished vehicles to cover the full manufacturing chain, including smart factories, digital production lines and automotive engineering. Organizers said they plan to highlight artificial intelligence applications across the industry, from research and development to production, and to showcase technologies such as intelligent connected vehicles, vehicle-to-everything communication and vehicle-to-grid integration.
New sections will be added for smart mobility services, new-energy transport solutions and intelligent robots, alongside the existing electric vehicle and intelligent connectivity segments. The show will also feature car racing, classic and vintage cars, automotive design and lifestyle products, plus a science education zone for the public and multi-scenario test drive experiences.
The organizers - the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Automotive Sub-Council, China Machinery International Cooperation Co., and China International Exhibition Center Group - said the event aims to help Chinese automakers expand overseas. They plan to invite foreign buyers, dealers and industry bodies, and to organize matchmaking sessions for technology cooperation, investment and project landing.
Dual-venue format with data integration
The exhibition will continue the "dual-venue" approach used for Auto China 2026, linking the Shunyi Hall and the Capital International Convention and Exhibition Center. Organizers said they will integrate data systems between the two sites to enable real-time analytics and smart scheduling, and will optimize visitor flow and add leisure spaces.
Beijing's role as a hub for domestic media headquarters and foreign correspondents is expected to give exhibitors an edge in marketing and communication, organizers said. The show will also coordinate with the city's tourism resources and landmarks to create a dedicated cultural brand, aiming to boost both the event and the city's profile.
The 2027 exhibition is positioned as a professional, themed event rather than a full-scale replacement for Auto China, which returns in 2028. Organizers said the new show responds to the accelerating pace of vehicle development cycles in China, where new models, technologies and products are emerging at an unprecedented rate, creating demand for more frequent marketing opportunities.
