Aston Martin launches three new S-series performance models in China

Aston Martin has unveiled the DBX S, DB12 S, and Vantage S in Shanghai, expanding its high-performance lineup across SUV, GT, and sports car segments.

Aston Martin has introduced three new high-performance S-series models in China, marking the first time the British marque has showcased the DBX S, DB12 S, and Vantage S together in the country. The cars were presented at a private event in Shanghai on September 22, according to NetEase Auto, and customer deliveries have already begun.

The S suffix has a long history at Aston Martin, dating back to the DB3S racing car of 1953, which won the World Sportscar Championship round and finished second at Le Mans three times in the 1950s. More recent S models include the Vanquish S (2004 and 2016), the Vantage S (2011 and 2013), and the Rapide S (2013). The new trio extends this tradition with upgraded powertrains, revised dynamics, and refreshed design details.

DBX S: More power, less weight

The DBX S is based on the DBX707 but adds a more powerful version of Aston Martin's 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, now producing 727 hp (535 kW) and 900 Nm of torque. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds and has a top speed of 310 km/h. Weight reduction of up to 47 kg compared to the DBX707 is achieved through lightweight materials and optional 23-inch magnesium wheels that cut unsprung mass by 19 kg. The steering ratio has been revised to reduce the turning circle by nearly 0.5 meters to 12.0 meters, improving urban maneuverability.

Exterior details include a hand-crafted metal "S" badge on the front fenders, finished with red glass enamel, matching the brand's winged emblem. The badge can be customized in bright or dark chrome to suit the selected wing badge color.

DB12 S: Sharper super GT

The DB12 S upgrades the DB12 with a 680 hp (500 kW) version of the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, delivering 800 Nm of torque between 3,000 and 6,000 rpm. It reaches 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds (0.1 seconds quicker than the standard DB12) and tops out at 325 km/h. The eight-speed automatic gearbox now shifts in 120 milliseconds, and the launch control system has been optimized. Standard carbon-ceramic brakes and a revised electronic rear limited-slip differential improve handling, while a new stainless steel sports exhaust system enhances the sound. An optional titanium exhaust saves 11.7 kg.

The DB12 S also features a redesigned front splitter and a new rear diffuser, with the cabin gaining a blue-hued metallic finish and red anodized drive mode selector.

Vantage S: Track-focused sports car

The Vantage S is the most track-oriented of the three, powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 producing 665 hp (489 kW) and 800 Nm of torque. It sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds and has a top speed of 325 km/h. Chassis upgrades include revised suspension hardware and powertrain mounts to improve agility and driver feedback. A central hood vent and a rear decklid spoiler enhance aerodynamic performance.

The three models together cover Aston Martin's three core segments: sports cars, super GTs, and SUVs. The event also displayed the Valhalla hypercar, which produces 1,079 hp (794 kW) and 1,100 Nm from its plug-in hybrid powertrain, though no pricing or availability details for the S-series models were announced.
