Aito M8 refresh opens pre-sales from 389,800 yuan with 800V and rear-wheel steering

Aito's new M8 large SUV starts pre-sales at 389,800 yuan (about $54,900), bringing an 800V electric drive, rear-wheel steering, and L3-ready architecture to the family flagship.

Chinese premium EV brand Aito has opened pre-sales for the refreshed M8 large SUV, with a starting guide price of 389,800 yuan (about $54,900) before taxes and incentives. The model, positioned as a "family smart flagship SUV," is built on 1.5 billion yuan of development investment and targets the 400,000-yuan segment, according to Chinese outlet D1EV.

Specs and upgrades

The new M8 measures 5,190 mm long, 1,999 mm wide and 1,795 mm tall, with a 3,105 mm wheelbase. It adds two new exterior colors—Sky Curtain Green and Cang Rong Green—and offers 20- or 21-inch wheels. Inside, dual-tone cabins in Sand Brown and Moonlight White come with a 17-meter ambient light strip and four wraparound light islands.

Comfort upgrades include zero-gravity seats for both front occupants, bringing the total to three across the cabin, plus a 10-way seat adjustment. A built-in cooler box operates from -18°C to 50°C. The HarmonyOS cockpit supports gesture-controlled door opening, media handoff between devices, and directional voice commands, with scenarios like a mobile vanity, study, or entertainment room.

Under the skin, the new M8 features an enhanced double-wishbone front and five-link rear suspension, dual-chamber air springs, and dual-valve continuously variable dampers. It gains rear-wheel steering with up to ±8 degrees and a crab-walk mode. The entire lineup switches to an 800V silicon-carbide multi-unit electric drive, paired with Huawei's latest Jujing battery platform 3.0, promising strong performance and long range.

ADAS and track record

The M8 adopts an L3-ready autonomous driving architecture, with 38 sensors including a 4-laser-lidar array with 896-line dual-optical path units and six surround-view cameras for all-directional perception.

The previous M8, launched 17 months ago, has delivered over 180,000 units and ranked first in sales among 400,000-yuan SUVs in its lifecycle. It holds C-NCAP five-star safety, C-IASI all-good ratings, and top scores in China's intelligent vehicle and health indexes.

Pre-sale customers who place a 5,000-yuan deposit before the order lock can get it credited as 10,000 yuan toward the final payment. The new M8 is expected to hit the market later this year, with full specifications and range figures to be announced at launch.
