Chinese off-road specialist 212 used the 21st Alxa Hero Meet in Inner Mongolia to showcase its latest lineup and deepen its community ties, according to Chinese outlet 电动邦. The event, which opened on October 1 at the desert crossing base camp in Alxa Left Banner, saw 212 gather more than 300 vehicles and over 500 users into a single convoy, underscoring the brand's "user-first" approach.
New models and desert-proven hardware
212 brought the 2026 T01, the T01 METTA, the Tanjing 01 and the new three-door T10 to the gathering. The 2026 T01 retains a body-on-frame construction with solid axles front and rear, paired with a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine, a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission and a BorgWarner transfer case. Low-range gearing amplifies torque for sand-dune work, and the setup has been validated through the full course of the Tacha rally. The three-door T10, shown again after its Beijing auto show debut, offers a lighter, more personal alternative for off-road fans.
The brand planned layered routes for the event, from short scenic drives for newcomers to long-distance deep-desert crossings for experienced drivers. 212 also stationed professional repair and desert support teams on site throughout the event, and recommended suitable official activities to users, ranging from competitive races to experience sessions.
Community building and live modification stream
Beyond driving, 212 turned its camp into a lifestyle space with vehicle displays, games, merchandise and food. On October 2, the METTA DAY event launched the METTA CLUB, featuring product tastings and club off-road trips. In a separate move, 212 partnered with JD Auto for a 24-hour live stream showing a 2026 T01 being modified from stock to a personalised build, with viewers able to bid on the finished package.
The Alxa Hero Meet, an annual fixture in China's off-road culture calendar, serves as both a reunion for enthusiasts and a real-world test for 212's products and services. The brand said its mission is to give every off-road enthusiast the confidence to explore and return safely, backing that promise with reliable hardware and a full service ecosystem.
