2027 Zongheng G700 softens off-road looks, adds Huawei ADAS and bigger PHEV range

The 2027 Zongheng G700, a large PHEV SUV from a Chinese brand, trades its rugged styling for a more urban look while keeping Huawei's Qiankun ADAS with lidar, offering 116 km or 210 km of WLTC electric range.

Chinese automaker Zongheng has unveiled the 2027 G700, a large plug-in hybrid (PHEV) SUV that drops much of its predecessor's rugged off-road styling in favor of a more city-oriented design, according to NetEase Auto. The model keeps its imposing dimensions but adds Huawei's Qiankun ADAS (advanced driver assistance) with a roof-mounted lidar, positioning it as a tech-forward family hauler rather than a hardcore off-roader.

Design shift and cabin

The most visible change is up front, where the old heavy black bumper is replaced by a body-colored integrated unit, and the grille gains chrome accents. The headlights are darkened, and the roof lidar remains, signaling that the tech hardware hasn't been scaled back. The G700 measures 5,198 mm long, 2,050 mm wide and 1,956 mm tall, with a 2,870 mm wheelbase, unchanged from the current model, though the wheels are redesigned. At the rear, the taillights are blacked out and the bumper is now body-colored, giving a cleaner look.

Inside, Zongheng has not released full details, but the cabin layout carries over with upgrades, offering five- or six-seat configurations. The large body provides generous interior space, and the cockpit integrates Huawei's Qiankun ADAS ecosystem, which handles urban and expressway driving, including adaptive cruise, lane changes and automated parking. The system's lidar-based perception offers better redundancy in poor weather or low light than camera-only setups in some rivals, though its city-oriented tuning limits usefulness in extreme off-road conditions, the report notes.

Powertrain and positioning

Power comes from a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine producing 155 kW (about 208 hp), paired with a plug-in hybrid system. The battery, supplied by CATL, is a ternary lithium unit, and WLTC electric-only range is offered in two versions: 116 km and 210 km. Top speed is 180 km/h. The 2.0-liter base gives stronger high-speed acceleration reserves than many 1.5-liter PHEV rivals, though the 210 km electric range is not class-leading in today's market.

The G700 sits in a competitive segment of large PHEV SUVs. By softening its off-road identity, it aims to attract urban families who want space and Huawei's ADAS, while risking alienation of hardcore off-road enthusiasts. Its core appeal, according to NetEase Auto, is the combination of a big body and mature Qiankun ADAS, suitable for family use and occasional long trips. Final pricing, yet to be announced, will likely determine its success.
