Chinese commercial-vehicle maker Yutong is opening its research and development centre to suppliers for a technology exhibition focused on the convergence of electrification and intelligent driving, according to Chinese outlet First Electric Vehicle (d1ev.com). The event, scheduled for October 29, is organised jointly with automotive industry media Gasgoo and targets companies working in areas such as battery systems, electric drivetrains, autonomous driving and lightweight materials.
The exhibition, themed "Innovation-driven, Chain-creating the Future," is part of Yutong's broader push to transform from a traditional bus and truck manufacturer into a technology-oriented mobility company. Yutong says it wants to use the event to match suppliers directly with its R&D and purchasing teams, shortening the path from initial contact to potential supply agreements.
Commercial vehicles enter the smart-EV era
The company notes that China's commercial-vehicle industry is moving into a deeper phase of smart-electric integration. New-energy commercial vehicles have entered a period of rapid adoption, with electrification expected to achieve economic breakthroughs in more use cases. Intelligent driving technology, meanwhile, is shifting from pilot programmes to commercial scale, with early deployment expected in mines, ports and long-haul logistics routes.
Yutong, which has more than six decades of manufacturing experience, is building its strategy around the "Ruikong E+" smart-electric platform. The company says it is focusing on self-developed core technologies for batteries, motors and electronic controls, as well as vehicle-road-cloud integrated autonomous driving, intelligent connectivity, lightweight construction and all-scenario safety. It is also looking for partners in domain controller integration, vehicle efficiency improvements and reliability across different operating conditions.
Supplier matchmaking as a growth strategy
Gasgoo, the event organiser, has experience running similar supplier-hosted manufacturer matchmaking events. According to the Chinese report, Gasgoo has already held technology exchange sessions this year with automakers including Hongqi, BAIC, FAW-Volkswagen, JAC Group and Dongfeng. The Yutong event will feature a full-day exhibition covering new-energy three-electric systems, powertrains, thermal management, intelligent driving, smart chassis, smart cockpits, body interiors and lightweight materials.
For suppliers, the event offers a chance to meet key decision-makers at Yutong, learn about its technology roadmap and purchasing needs, and potentially enter its supply chain. Yutong says it is also exploring overseas premium markets and smart mobility operations, and is open to cross-industry collaboration.
The event is open to companies across the commercial-vehicle supply chain, with registration available through Gasgoo. Yutong's move reflects a broader trend among Chinese commercial-vehicle makers to deepen supplier partnerships as electrification and automation reshape the industry.
