Voyah Dreamer 9 becomes first high-end MPV in Beijing Auto Museum collection

Voyah's Dreamer 9 has become the first high-end MPV to be collected by the Beijing Auto Museum, marking a milestone for Chinese premium MPV design and brand recognition.

Voyah's Dreamer 9 has become the first high-end MPV to be added to the permanent collection of the Beijing Auto Museum, a national first-tier museum dedicated to automotive history. The ceremony, held on October 19 under the theme "Design Heritage, Creating the Future," saw the museum issue a collection certificate to Voyah, according to D1EV, a Chinese electric-vehicle news outlet.

The museum, which chronicles 140 years of global automotive development, typically reserves its collection slots for landmark vehicles. The inclusion of the Dreamer 9 signals that Chinese high-end MPVs have moved beyond being mere market commodities to becoming cultural artifacts representing the current state of the industry.

Design language rooted in Eastern aesthetics

The Dreamer 9 is described as the world's first MPV with a rising hood ornament, a feature the company says reflects a distinctly Chinese luxury design language rather than borrowing from Western templates. The "Kunpeng soaring cloud" emblem, along with the "Purple Star Pavilion" headlights and dragon-scale trim details, draw on the design concept of "heaven, earth, stars and rivers," integrating natural imagery and cosmic philosophy into the vehicle's styling.

At the designers' night event, Zhu Tao, former president of the China Industrial Design Association, traced the evolution from manufacturing powerhouse to design leader. Dongfeng designer Ai Dekun discussed the heritage of Chinese automotive design, referencing the brand's "double swallow" emblem as a predecessor to Voyah's current design language. Xu Lin, Voyah's senior design director, explained how the Dreamer 9 elevates Eastern aesthetics from decorative elements to core design DNA, embedding philosophy into body proportions, functional logic and interaction details.

Market validation and safety credentials

Voyah says the Dreamer family has accumulated over 200,000 users across a price range of 300,000 to 700,000 yuan (about $42,300 to $98,600), claiming it has broken the long-standing dominance of foreign brands in the high-end MPV segment. The model has earned what the company calls a "triple crown" in sales, reputation and quality.

The Dreamer 9 also completed what Voyah claims is the world's first moving load-bearing challenge for a passenger vehicle, carrying an 18.1-tonne weight stack from a 10.8-metre tower while driving 35 metres. After the test, all doors opened normally with no body deformation, demonstrating the strength of its ultra-high-strength cage body and multi-layer battery protection.

The museum collection marks a milestone for Chinese automotive design, reflecting a broader shift from following international trends to defining original ones. As the Dreamer 9 takes its place alongside historic vehicles in the museum, it stands as a tangible record of how far China's EV industry has come in both technology and cultural identity.
