Stellantis-backed Denza V680 and V800 target China's high-end MPV buyers

Denza's new V680 and V800 MPVs aim to split the high-end market by use case, with the V680 from 648,000 yuan (about $91,300) and the V800 as a luxury flagship.

Denza, the premium electric-vehicle brand jointly owned by BYD and Mercedes-Benz, is sharpening its attack on China's high-end MPV segment with two new models that split the market by use case. According to PCauto, the Denza V680 and Denza V800 are positioned differently despite sharing a flagship ethos: the V680 leans toward versatile business and family use, while the V800 targets ultra-luxury and high-spec business reception.

V680: flexible space for mixed duties

The Denza V680 starts at a Chinese guide price of 648,000 yuan (about $91,300) before taxes and incentives. It measures 5,320 mm long, 2,006 mm wide and 1,850 mm tall, with a 3,290 mm wheelbase. Its key party trick is a second-row seat that slides rearward and a third row that folds electrically, allowing the cabin to switch between a spacious four-seat layout and a fuller passenger configuration. In four-seat mode, second-row legroom exceeds 1.4 meters, making it suitable for business meetings, while the seven-seat setup accommodates family trips.

The V680's exterior uses Denza's “Starry Galaxy” design language, with a grille emblem featuring convex radiating textures and diffuse lighting, plus a 360-degree interactive lighting system that includes dual million-pixel full-color projector headlights, side projection lamps and a rear interactive taillight. Inside, the second-row seats use a 20-layer construction and 14 high-precision sensors to adapt to different body types, with a maximum recline of 150 degrees and adjustable leg rests. A 21.4-inch 3K rear entertainment screen supports NFC tap-to-connect, while the front console and passenger side each get a 17.2-inch display. The cabin also features Huawei's HarmonyOS-based ALPS health system for air purification and CO₂ monitoring.

V800: luxury for high-spec reception

The Denza V800 is a larger, more opulent offering at 5,495 mm long, 2,006 mm wide and 1,850 mm tall, with a 3,430 mm wheelbase. Its dedicated “Sun Pattern” emblem and dual million-pixel projector headlights work with an illuminated welcome carpet, and the fully active suspension lowers the body on unlock to ease entry. The cabin includes partitioned storage, a hidden pen holder, a 6.6-inch magnetic detachable control screen, and a rear table that doubles as a vanity mirror. A private beverage bar with real wood trim and leather upholstery, plus a cool/warm box, supports in-transit hospitality.

Privacy is a major theme: the V800 offers electric privacy curtains for the front and rear windows, side privacy glass, electric sunshades and a retractable starry sky ceiling. The second-row seats recline up to 150 degrees with heating for the backrest, cushion, foot rest and armrests, and 20 massage points. The third row also gets electric adjustment, heating, ventilation and massage, with a 758-liter trunk that expands to 1,926 liters when the third row is folded away.

For maneuverability, the V800 features ±12-degree rear-wheel steering, reducing the turning radius to 5.4 meters, and steer-by-wire with a variable ratio that requires only 300 degrees of steering wheel rotation for U-turns. It also supports a crab-walk mode for tight spaces. The V680 uses full-surround perception and integrated vehicle motion control, while the V800 employs an 800V fully active suspension with road preview.

Both models emphasize safety: the V680 includes door-opening guards, a physical child lock and anti-pinch seats, while the V800 adds triple-redundant steer-by-wire and collision-linked protection. The V800 is expected to be priced in the million-yuan range, though PCauto did not specify a final figure.
