Skyworth Digital partners with Google on smart home devices for 14 European countries

Skyworth Digital has signed a smart home cooperation agreement with Google, launching products including Gemini-powered speakers and cameras across 14 European countries.

Skyworth Digital, a Chinese technology company, announced on September 11 that it has signed a smart home cooperation agreement with Google Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd. The deal positions Skyworth as an authorized smart home partner and service distributor for Google, focusing on smart home products and services. According to IThome, the first batch of products includes Gemini smart speakers, video doorbells, indoor cameras, outdoor cameras, and floodlight cameras, all compatible with Google Home and sold under Skyworth's brand in 14 European countries.

Financial performance and growth drivers

Skyworth Digital reported strong first-half 2026 results, with revenue of 5.371 billion yuan (about $756 million), up 31.16% year-on-year, and net profit attributable to shareholders of 162 million yuan (about $22.8 million), up 202.45%. The core driver was the recovery of its smart terminal business, which generated 4.4 billion yuan (about $620 million) in revenue, a 52.45% increase. The company attributed growth to three factors: operator procurement projects, product mix optimization, and overseas expansion.

In China, Skyworth shipped over 300,000 units of its smart display products, capturing more than 80% of China Mobile's market in that category. It also won second place in two packages for China Telecom's procurement of smart screens, securing over 550,000 units. Additionally, its smart home gateway ranked first in China Mobile's emergency procurement.

The company said it deliberately abandoned some low-margin traditional procurement orders to focus on higher-value products. Overseas, its NexPlayground motion-sensing game console performed well in North America. Looking ahead, Skyworth expects continued growth from operator deliveries, overseas seasonal sales, and the ramp-up of automotive display projects in the second half of the year.

Strategic implications

This partnership marks a significant step for Skyworth Digital in expanding its smart home presence internationally. By leveraging Google's ecosystem, the company aims to offer products that integrate seamlessly with Google Home, appealing to European consumers who prioritize interoperability. The move also aligns with Skyworth's strategy to diversify beyond traditional set-top boxes into higher-margin smart devices.

For Google, the collaboration extends its smart home reach through a licensed partner model, similar to its approach with other hardware makers. The inclusion of Gemini AI in the speakers highlights Google's push to embed its AI assistant in more devices, potentially setting a precedent for future partnerships in other regions.
