SAIC unveils AI-native Roewe, MG 07 and Zhiji LS8 NEO at 2026 CIIF

SAIC showcased a full lineup of new-energy models at the 2026 China International Industry Fair, including the AI-native Roewe Jiayue 07, the MG 07 with 800V and 845 km CLTC range, and the Zhiji LS8 NEO with all-line-by-wire chassis.

SAIC Motor brought a broad lineup of new-energy vehicles to the 2026 China International Industry Fair (CIIF), held October 12-16 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai. The company presented what it calls its 'all-star lineup' of intelligent electric models, including the Roewe Jiayue 07, which it bills as the world's first AI-native car, the MG 07 coupe, the Zhiji LS8 NEO SUV, the Shangjie Z7T shooting brake, and the Maxus 9 MPV, according to Chinese outlet D1EV.

The show marked SAIC's push to bring advanced technology to mainstream price points, with features like 800V architectures, lidar, and high-level driver assistance moving into more affordable segments. The company said it is accelerating the spread of these technologies beyond premium models, aiming to let ordinary buyers enjoy 'over-class' experiences without paying a premium.

AI-native Roewe and Zhiji's by-wire concept

The Roewe Jiayue 07, co-developed with ByteDance's Volcano Engine, is described as the industry's first AI-native car. It uses over 2,000 SOA (service-oriented architecture) interfaces to let its Doubao cabin assistant control hardware at an atomic level, turning complex natural-language commands into sequences of actions across navigation, driving, cabin entertainment, and vehicle controls. The system can also access real-time online information and is said to 'self-grow' as cloud AI updates its knowledge and capabilities.

Zhiji displayed its 'All-Line-By-Wire AI Concept Cabin,' featuring the Lingxi chassis with a 20-millisecond response time, which the company says is 10 times faster than human reaction. The concept also includes the IM AD ZETA driver assistance system and the IM CLAW agent, along with a new-generation NEO three-electric architecture. The first public showing of the Zhiji LS8 NEO, a large five-seat SUV, comes with CATL batteries and the by-wire chassis as standard, aiming for top-tier performance in electric drive, safety, and handling.

MG 07 and Shangjie Z7T target younger buyers

The MG 07, positioned as a 'pure-blood coupe for young people,' brings technology typically found in 300,000-yuan (about $42,300) cars down to the 150,000-yuan (about $21,100) segment. The pure electric version features an 800V platform, 5C fast charging, and a HeatMatrix actively cooled motor, achieving 0-100 km/h in around five seconds and a maximum CLTC range of 845 km. It also uses the Momenta R7 driver assistance system with lidar, enabling urban and highway NOA (navigation on autopilot) and full-scenario automatic parking.

The Shangjie Z7T, a 200,000-yuan (about $28,200) class shooting brake, comes standard with Huawei's Qiankun ADS 5, a 896-line lidar, HarmonyOS cabin, Turing intelligent chassis, and 800V fast charging. It measures over 5 meters long with a 3-meter wheelbase, offers rear- and all-wheel-drive versions, and accelerates from 0-100 km/h in as little as 3.44 seconds. Its CLTC range tops out at 905 km, and it supports ultra-fast charging. The cabin runs on HarmonyOS with intelligent voice control, and the suspension includes double-wishbone front and multi-link rear setups with air springs.

In the commercial segment, SAIC showed the 2027 Maxus 9, a large MPV with a 90 kWh CATL ternary lithium battery and a CLTC range of 560 km. It supports battery swap, with a swap time of about 90 seconds, and DC fast charging from 30% to 80% in 30 minutes. The MPV features Nappa leather zero-gravity seats, a triple-screen system, 12 JBL speakers, and 64-color ambient lighting. It has earned five-star safety ratings from both Euro NCAP and ANCAP, and comes with ADAS, a 540-degree camera, and seven airbags as standard.

All prices mentioned are Chinese guide prices before taxes and incentives. The CLTC range figures are roughly 15-20% more optimistic than the WLTP standard, so a WLTP estimate would be lower; for example, the MG 07's 845 km CLTC would correspond to roughly 676-718 km WLTP (est.).
