SAIC's Roewe brand launched its new Jiayue 07 range-extender SUV (EREV) in China on October 23, and the company claims it took just 1 minute 53 seconds to rack up more than 10,000 firm orders after sales opened, according to Chinese outlet D1EV.
The Jiayue 07 is offered in four trims with a Chinese guide price before taxes and incentives of 127,800 to 152,800 yuan (about $18,000 to $21,500). A limited-time launch discount brings the effective price down to 119,800 to 144,800 yuan (roughly $16,900 to $20,400), nearly 20,000 yuan below the pre-sale price. The model is the first in Roewe's new Jiayue family and is positioned as a five-seat EREV SUV.
AI cabin and lidar ADAS as headline features
The Jiayue 07 is the industry's first model to feature the Doubao cabin assistant, based on ByteDance's Doubao large language model 2.0, developed in cooperation with ByteDance's Volcano Engine unit. The system supports four-zone voice interaction, multiple dialect recognition and FaceID-based user profiles, and Roewe calls it the first embodied in-car AI. Inside, the cabin is built around an 8.88-inch digital instrument cluster, a 15.6-inch 2.5K center touchscreen and a foldable 15.6-inch rear entertainment screen, powered by a Qualcomm 8295P chip.
All but the base trim come with a lidar-enabled ADAS package built on Momenta's R7 world model and a Xinxin Hangtu XHEART X7 dedicated chip. The system supports urban NOA (city advanced driver assistance), highway NOA and parking in more than 300 scenarios. The car also offers dual zero-gravity seats, a 7.5-liter refrigerator that can make ice in 10 minutes, and a vanity area with integrated makeup light for the front passenger.
Range and powertrain
The Jiayue 07 uses a 1.5-liter range extender paired with a rear-mounted electric motor producing 162 kW (about 217 hp) and 350 Nm of torque. Two CATL lithium iron phosphate battery options are offered: 32.6 kWh and 44.2 kWh, giving a CLTC pure-electric range of 220 km and 320 km respectively (an estimated 185-270 km under WLTP, as CLTC figures are typically 15-20% more optimistic). Combined range on a full tank and charge is up to 1,480 km, and fast charging from 30% to 80% takes about 15 minutes. WLTC fuel consumption when the battery is depleted is as low as 4.97 L/100 km.
The SUV measures 4,900 mm long, 1,910 mm wide and 1,745 mm tall, with a 2,908 mm wheelbase. Roewe says the cabin offers 88.8% usable space, a 834-liter plus 81-liter split trunk, and a flat bed of 2.3 meters when the rear seats are folded. The exterior was designed under Joseph Kaban, SAIC's global design vice president and former Rolls-Royce and BMW design chief.
Roewe says pre-orders, which opened on September 21, reached 51,827 units, with 71.5% of orders coming from families with children and over 80% choosing the top trim. The Jiayue 07 competes directly with the Leapmotor C10 and C11, BYD's Sea Lion 06 DM-i and Changan's Deepal S07 in the fast-growing 100,000-150,000 yuan segment. SAIC passenger car general manager Lu Xiao has said the model is part of a "breakout battle" to bring Roewe back into the mainstream of Chinese buyers.
