Nio ES8 tops China's 350,000-yuan-plus NEV SUV resale value chart, deliveries pass 150,000

The Nio ES8 ranked first in resale value among new-energy SUVs priced above 350,000 yuan in China, with a 77.5% retention rate. One year after launch, cumulative deliveries have exceeded 150,000 units.

Nio's flagship ES8 has been named the top resale-value performer among new-energy SUVs priced above 350,000 yuan (about $49,300) in China, according to a report released on October 10 by the China Automobile Dealers Association and Jingzhengu. The ES8 recorded a 77.5% resale value retention rate, the highest in its segment, according to PCauto.

Resale value and BaaS

The report, titled the September 2026 China Automobile Resale Value Study, highlighted that the ES8's strong residual value is underpinned by its self-developed electric architecture and technology, as well as its battery-as-a-service (BaaS) program. BaaS allows buyers to purchase the car body separately from the battery, reducing the impact of battery degradation on the vehicle's resale value and helping stabilize its worth in the used-car market.

Industry experts note that for battery-electric vehicles (BEVs), residual value depends on both product stability and the supporting charging and asset-management infrastructure. The ES8's native BEV platform and in-house core technologies provide a solid foundation for its long-term value.

Deliveries and market position

The ES8 was officially launched on September 20, 2025, and within its first year on the market, cumulative deliveries surpassed 150,000 units, setting a record for BEVs in the 400,000-yuan (about $56,300) price class. In retail sales, the ES8 ranked first in both the large SUV segment and the 400,000-yuan category.

Customer satisfaction also appears strong. According to the 2026 H1 New Energy Vehicle Brand Health Study by Jielanlu, the ES8 achieved a net promoter score (NPS) of 85.3, the highest among BEVs in China.

The combination of top-tier resale value, strong sales, and high customer recommendation scores indicates broad market acceptance for the ES8 in the premium large SUV segment. Its performance also suggests growing consumer confidence in BEVs at the high end of the market, where range anxiety and charging infrastructure have traditionally been concerns.
