Nio ES8 to pass 150,000 deliveries this week, less than a year after launch

Nio's new ES8 will complete its 150,000th delivery this week, just 335 days after deliveries began, setting a record for China's premium pure-electric SUV segment.

Nio is set to deliver the 150,000th example of its new ES8 this week, according to a post on Weibo by Yang Bo, the company's assistant vice president of user operations. The milestone comes less than a month after the 140,000th delivery and just 335 days after the first car reached a customer, according to Chinese outlet D1EV.

Rapid ramp-up

The new ES8, which started deliveries on September 21, 2025, took only 41 days to hit its first 10,000 units, a record for a pure-electric model priced above 400,000 yuan in China. The pace then accelerated: the 100,000th car was delivered after 215 days, and the 140,000th arrived on August 21, 2026. On average, Nio has handed over about 418 ES8s per day since launch.

Monthly sales have exceeded 10,000 units for ten consecutive months since November 2025, with August 2026 seeing 10,999 deliveries. According to data from the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), the ES8 has been the best-selling model in both the large SUV segment and the 400,000-yuan-plus category for several months running, and it leads both segments in cumulative sales from January to August 2026.

Pricing and variants

The ES8 is built on Nio's NT3.0 platform and is offered in six- and seven-seat configurations. The full purchase price ranges from 406,800 to 446,800 yuan (about $57,300 to $62,900), while the BaaS (battery-as-a-service) subscription option brings the price down to between 298,800 and 338,800 yuan (about $42,100 to $47,700). These are Chinese guide prices before taxes and incentives.

In July 2026, Nio introduced a five-seat version of the ES8 at a launch event in Chengdu, with a starting price of 382,800 yuan (about $53,900), or 274,800 yuan (about $38,700) with the BaaS plan. The five-seat variant is aimed at broadening the ES8's appeal in the large SUV market.

From the first delivery to the 150,000th, the new ES8 took roughly ten and a half months. For a pure-electric SUV priced in the 400,000-yuan bracket, the model is accelerating the shift from gasoline to electric power in China's large SUV segment, D1EV noted.
