Chinese autonomous delivery vehicle maker Ninebot has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with battery manufacturer EVE Energy to jointly develop smart logistics and mobile energy solutions, according to PCauto.
The two companies will work on two main projects: a 200 kWh unmanned mobile charging vehicle and a cold-climate autonomous logistics vehicle. The mobile charging unit will combine autonomous driving with mobile energy storage, while the cold-climate vehicle will use a lithium iron manganese phosphate (LMFP) battery system developed specifically to address performance issues in extremely low temperatures.
Core strengths
Ninebot, known for its RoboVan line of autonomous delivery vehicles, brings full-stack in-house L4 autonomous driving technology and a product lineup that is commercially deployable. EVE Energy, one of the world's leading battery manufacturers, supplies capabilities from cell manufacturing to system integration.
The partnership aims to create a closed loop from technology development and adaptation testing to large-scale commercial deployment, the companies said in a statement. The agreement was signed in Huizhou, Guangdong province, with senior executives from both firms present, including Ninebot vice president Xue Yapeng and EVE Energy vice president Dr. Huang Hongliang.
Strategic fit
For EVE Energy, the deal extends its reach into the commercial vehicle and logistics sector, where demand for specialized battery systems is growing. For Ninebot, it secures a battery partner for its autonomous delivery fleet and opens up new use cases such as mobile charging.
The collaboration reflects a broader trend in China's EV industry of pairing autonomous driving technology with energy storage to create new business models, particularly in logistics and last-mile delivery.
