Chinese automaker Lynk & Co has launched the new 07 EM-P, a mid-size plug-in hybrid (PHEV) sedan that aims to set a new benchmark in the 150,000 yuan (about $21,100) segment. According to PCauto, the vehicle combines advanced driver assistance, high-strength safety structures, and a range-extended hybrid system, making it a compelling option for buyers prioritizing highway autonomy and safety.
Standard LiDAR and High-Performance ADAS
The 07 EM-P is equipped with an Orin-Y chip as standard, delivering 200 TOPS of computing power, with an optional Thor-U chip boosting that to 700 TOPS. It is the only plug-in hybrid sedan in its class to come standard with a LiDAR sensor, which offers centimeter-level accuracy within 200 meters and a 126-line resolution. The sensor suite includes up to 29 sensors, including 11 cameras, five millimeter-wave radars, and 12 ultrasonic radars.
The highway NOA (Navigate on Autopilot) system operates on highways nationwide, completing lane changes in two seconds with a 99% success rate. It can adaptively adjust speed, avoid large vehicles, and handle ramp merging autonomously, reducing ramp transit time by 30%. The system also supports emergency safe pull-over. For urban driving, the city NOA feature enables map-free navigation, recognizing bus lanes, variable lanes, and construction zones, with capabilities for U-turns and green wave passage.
Safety and Battery Protection
The 07 EM-P introduces the industry-first G-AES (General Obstacle Emergency Avoidance) system, effective up to 130 km/h, providing all-weather emergency avoidance for front obstacles. The body uses 2000MPa ultra-high-strength steel in the A-pillar, B-pillar, and door beams, exceeding the strength of submarine hulls by three times. The front anti-collision beam is made of aerospace-grade 7-series aluminum alloy, with a six-chamber energy-absorbing box that improves energy absorption by 50-70%. The battery pack features a "four-proof" design against collision, fire, water, and radiation, with millisecond-level high-voltage cutoff in emergencies and 24-hour no-thermal-runaway protection, meeting IP68 waterproofing standards.
Powertrain and Range
The hybrid system combines a 1.5T Evo engine with a 3DHT Evo transmission, achieving a thermal efficiency of 47.26%, the highest in mass production. The system produces 300 kW (402 hp) and 615 Nm of torque, with the P3 motor delivering 180 kW (241 hp). The CLTC-rated fuel consumption in depleted battery mode is as low as 3.72 L/100km, with a CLTC combined range of 1450 km and an electric-only range of 126 km. For comparison, the WLTP estimates would be approximately 3.0 L/100km and 1160 km combined, respectively (est.). The battery is an 18.4 kWh lithium iron phosphate unit from CATL, supporting fast charging from 30% to 80% in 18 minutes.
The 07 EM-P also features a 95-inch AR-HUD, a 23-speaker LynkSound audio system, and a spacious cabin with 1019 mm of front headroom and 110 mm of rear knee room. The interior uses "three-zero" materials (no harmful solvents, asphalt, or mixed cotton) for health-conscious comfort.
PCauto's review suggests that while rivals like the Deepal L06, Fengon A9L, Xpeng MONA M03, and Camry are worth considering, the Lynk & Co 07 EM-P stands out for its combination of advanced driver assistance, safety, and comfort at this price point.
