Luxeed RX opens pre-sales from 299,800 yuan with L3-ready ADAS

The Luxeed RX, a new BEV from the Huawei-backed brand, starts pre-sales at 299,800 yuan (about $42,200) with an L3-capable architecture, four-laser LiDAR, and a sporty black-and-yellow interior.

Luxeed, the electric vehicle brand co-developed by Huawei and Chery, has opened pre-sales for its new RX model, priced from 299,800 yuan (about $42,200) in China. The company also confirmed that a version built on an L3 autonomous driving architecture starts at 359,800 yuan (about $50,700). According to the Chinese outlet 第一电动 (D1EV), which republished the report from 快科技 (Kuaikeji), orders for the RX so far show that 90% of buyers have chosen the L3-ready variant, underscoring strong interest in advanced driver assistance.

The RX is a battery-electric vehicle (BEV) that features a distinctive "flash gold black" interior, revealed in official photos shared by Zhao Changjiang, executive director and vice president of Luxeed. The cabin is predominantly black with bright yellow accents, including stitching on the multifunction steering wheel, seats, and door panels, creating a sporty atmosphere. The interior also includes metal trim, a flat-bottomed sports steering wheel, an electronic gear shifter, dual wireless charging pads, a passenger entertainment screen, and integrated sport seats.

L3-ready hardware and safety redundancy

The RX is equipped with a four-laser LiDAR array, comprising one 896-line dual-optical-path main LiDAR and three high-precision solid-state LiDAR units, plus a 4D millimeter-wave radar. This setup is designed to reliably detect pedestrians, bicycles, cut-in vehicles, and road obstacles even in rain, fog, or backlit conditions. To meet the safety requirements of L3 regulations, the vehicle employs a full redundancy architecture covering perception, positioning, communication, power supply, computing, steering, braking, and interaction, with backup systems for all critical components.

The RX has already obtained an L3 road-test license in China and will begin public testing on urban expressways and other complex roads. With L3 regulations expected to take effect next year, the RX is positioned to be among the first vehicles to support L3 autonomous driving, according to the company.

Pricing and positioning

The pre-sale price of 299,800 yuan is a Chinese guide price before taxes and incentives. The L3 architecture version, priced at 359,800 yuan, reflects a premium for the advanced driving capability. The RX does not feature a BOOST full-power release button, which the company suggests is reserved for the top-spec all-wheel-drive variant.

Luxeed's RX is part of a broader push by Huawei-backed brands to integrate cutting-edge ADAS (advanced driver assistance systems) into mainstream EVs, competing with other Chinese automakers offering similar technology. The high take rate for the L3 version indicates that Chinese consumers are increasingly willing to pay for advanced autonomous features.
