Jetta has launched the M6, a new battery-electric sedan aimed at Chinese family buyers, with prices starting at 79,800 yuan (about $11,200) and rising to 99,800 yuan (about $14,100). According to NetEase Auto, the model is the first major product under the brand's refresh and is built on Jetta's own Jisi architecture for electric vehicles.
Specs and features
The M6 is a compact sedan with a length of 4,806 mm, a width of 1,895 mm (or 1,868 mm depending on trim), and a height of 1,500 mm, with a wheelbase of 2,820 mm. Jetta claims a class-leading interior space efficiency of 91.3 percent, offering what it calls 'B-segment dimensions with C-segment experience.' The cabin comes standard with cloud-feel zero-pressure seats and smart climate control.
Two electric motor options are available, both mounted on the front axle: a 113 kW (152 hp) unit and a 145 kW (194 hp) unit. The battery is supplied by CALB (China Aviation Lithium Battery). The smaller motor offers a CLTC range of 465 km, while the larger motor provides 555 km. For context, CLTC figures are typically 15-20 percent more optimistic than WLTP, so the 555 km CLTC rating roughly translates to an estimated WLTP range of about 470-500 km.
AI cockpit and driver assistance
The M6 is equipped with an AI-powered cockpit that integrates multiple large language models, including Doubao, DeepSeek, and Tongyi Qianwen, allowing for natural voice commands that are easy for elderly users and children to operate. The car also features urban NOA (city advanced driver assistance), which enables assisted driving on city roads, a feature typically found in more expensive models.
The vehicle rides on 17-inch or 18-inch wheels, depending on the trim. Jetta, a brand that has long been associated with affordable, reliable sedans for Chinese families, is positioning the M6 as a 'super-comfortable AI electric family sedan.' The model targets the mainstream A-segment BEV market, competing with other family-oriented electric cars in the 80,000-100,000 yuan price bracket.
Production of the M6 is already underway, with the first deliveries expected in the coming weeks. The launch marks Jetta's aggressive push into the electric vehicle segment, leveraging its reputation for durability and practicality while adding modern tech features to attract younger families.
