Jetour, the SUV-focused brand under China's Chery Group, launched the all-new Traveler 7 globally on October 14, expanding its boxy off-road lineup with two powertrain options. The fuel version is offered in five trims priced between 139,900 and 179,900 yuan (about $19,700 to $25,300), while the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version comes in three trims from 152,900 to 172,900 yuan (about $21,500 to $24,400). A promotional "super renewal price" lowers the entry point to 125,900 yuan (about $17,700) for the fuel model and 143,900 yuan (about $20,300) for the hybrid. All prices are Chinese guide prices before taxes and incentives.
According to Chinese outlet 电动邦 (Dian Dong Bang), the launch marks a key step in Jetour's "travel" strategy, which began in 2018. The original Traveler, introduced in 2023, has become what the company calls the "global champion of Chinese boxy SUVs," with cumulative global sales of the Traveler series reaching 600,000 units. Jetour's overall global sales have surpassed 2.56 million vehicles, with the Traveler line achieving monthly sales above 10,000 units for 31 consecutive months and ranking first in the boxy SUV segment across 13 countries and regions.
Design and interior
The Traveler 7 retains the classic boxy silhouette and Jetour's "square-circle" design language. It offers five exterior colors, including a PPG-customized road gray paint, and features a new two-tone "travel backpack" option. With a 2,800 mm wheelbase, the cabin provides a 580-liter standard trunk that expands when the second row is folded flat, creating a two-meter-long sleeping area. The interior includes 73 storage compartments, 80% soft-touch leather covering, a 64-inch panoramic sunroof, 256-color ambient lighting, and a 12-layer comfort seat system with heating, ventilation, and SPA-level massage for front occupants.
Both versions come standard with Jetour's Lingxi intelligent cockpit, powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8255 chip, 24 GB of RAM, and 256 GB of storage. The system runs on a 15.6-inch 2.5K central display and integrates iFlytek's Spark large language model, supporting continuous voice commands, off-road instrument displays, and split-screen multitasking.
Powertrain and driving aids
The fuel version is equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine (187 kW, about 251 hp) paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, and comes with the Falcon 500 advanced driver assistance system, which enables highway NOA (navigate on autopilot) and full-scenario parking. The C-DM hybrid variant uses Jetour's Kunpeng Super Hybrid C-DM 7.0 system, featuring three electric motors and a combined output of 575 kW (about 771 hp) and 835 Nm of torque. It also incorporates Huawei's Qiankun ADS 5 driver assistance, with a cabin-integrated lidar and 27 high-precision sensors for comprehensive environmental perception.
Both models come standard with Jetour's XWD full-time intelligent all-wheel drive. The C-DM version packs a 45.12 kWh battery from CATL, delivering a CLTC electric-only range of 251 km (about 156 miles; WLTP est. 201-213 km) and a combined range of 1,400 km (about 870 miles). Fuel consumption is rated at 1.08 liters per 100 km in hybrid mode. The body uses 81% high-strength steel and an integrated frame, backed by a lifetime vehicle warranty unique in the industry.
The Traveler 7 and Traveler 7 C-DM are positioned for urban commuting, family trips, and off-road adventures, with the promotional pricing aimed at lowering the entry barrier for buyers. The launch reinforces Jetour's push to solidify its leadership in the boxy SUV segment globally.
