JD.com offers trade-in subsidies of up to 900 yuan for iPhone 18 Pro pre-orders

JD.com is offering trade-in subsidies of up to 900 yuan (about $127) and other perks for the iPhone 18 Pro series, which goes on pre-order tonight at 8 PM Beijing time.

Chinese e-commerce giant JD.com has announced trade-in subsidies and other incentives for Apple's newly announced iPhone 18 Pro series, according to IThome (IThome). The iPhone 18 Pro starts at 9,999 yuan (about $1,408) and the iPhone 18 Pro Max at 10,999 yuan (about $1,549), with pre-orders opening tonight at 8 PM Beijing time and sales starting September 18.

JD.com said customers can get a trade-in subsidy of up to 900 yuan (about $127) when purchasing the new iPhones through its official Apple self-operated store on the JD app. The company is also offering a limited number of 24-installment interest-free coupons.

Additional perks for Apple Watch and AirPods

Beyond the iPhone, JD.com is offering trade-in subsidies of up to 800 yuan (about $113) for the Apple Watch S12, and up to 220 yuan (about $31) for AirPods 5, along with limited 6-installment interest-free coupons. These deals are part of JD's broader push to capture Apple product sales during the launch season.

Customers who previously won an early-bird ticket in JD's Apple new-product lottery can check their winning status in the JD app and choose their preferred model. iPhone early-bird winners will receive an additional 500 yuan (about $70) trade-in subsidy and a complimentary AppleCare Services original service plan.

What this means for consumers

These promotions highlight the intense competition among Chinese e-commerce platforms to secure Apple product sales. For consumers, the trade-in subsidies and interest-free installments can significantly reduce the upfront cost of upgrading to the latest iPhone. The early-bird ticket program also adds a gamified element to the purchasing process, encouraging early engagement.

JD.com's move comes as Apple continues to face a competitive smartphone market in China, where domestic brands like Huawei and Xiaomi are gaining ground. By offering these incentives, JD aims to attract both loyal Apple users and those considering a switch.
