Hongqi H7 launches in China from 191,800 yuan, undercutting C-segment hybrid rivals

Hongqi has launched the all-new H7, a C-segment hybrid sedan priced from 191,800 yuan (about $27,000), with a limited-time trade-in price starting at 168,800 yuan. The car features a plug-in hybrid system with up to 1,954 km combined range.

Hongqi, the luxury arm of Chinese automaker FAW, has launched the all-new H7, a C-segment hybrid sedan, in China. The car is priced from 191,800 to 231,800 yuan (about $27,000 to $32,700) as a Chinese guide price before taxes and incentives, with a limited-time trade-in price range of 168,800 to 208,800 yuan, according to NetEase Auto. The model is positioned to compete in the mid-to-high-end sedan market, offering a blend of luxury, efficiency, and technology.

Design and interior

The H7 adopts Hongqi's latest "Flowing Shadow" family design language, featuring a semi-enclosed grille with vertical chrome strips and a distinctive hood emblem that lights up for welcome and charging status displays. The exterior includes split LED headlights, a fastback roofline, and a rear "Flowing Light" taillight design. The car measures 5,060 mm in length, 1,910 mm in width, and has a wheelbase of 2,970 mm, placing it firmly in the C-segment.

Inside, the cabin features a wraparound design with soft-touch materials and wood trim. Standard equipment includes four-zone ventilated and heated seats, a 10-point massage function for front occupants, an optional "Zero-Pressure Queen" reclining seat with electric leg rest, a 1.921-square-meter panoramic sunroof, a 4-liter refrigerator, and a BOSE audio system. The infotainment is powered by a Qualcomm 8295P chip with 24 GB of RAM, driving a 15.6-inch 2.5K central touchscreen. The system supports multi-brand phone connectivity, an AI voice assistant with four-zone recognition, and customizable "scenes" based on time, location, and vehicle status.

Powertrain and range

The H7 is powered by Hongqi's "Honghu" intelligent hybrid system, combining a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with an electric motor. It offers four drive modes: pure electric, intelligent hybrid, fuel priority, and range-extender. The CLTC-rated pure electric range is up to 240 km, with a combined range of up to 1,954 km. Note that CLTC figures are typically 15-20% more optimistic than WLTP, so the equivalent WLTP range would be approximately 1,563-1,661 km (est.). The WLTC combined fuel consumption in depleted battery mode is 4.4 L/100 km, and the car runs on regular 92-octane gasoline.

Performance varies by configuration: the all-wheel-drive version delivers a combined 479 kW (about 642 hp) and 871 Nm of torque, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds, with a top speed of 200 km/h. The rear-wheel-drive version offers 278 kW (about 373 hp) and 565 Nm.

For driver assistance, the H7 features Hongqi's "Sinanya" system with 23 sensors, including 10 cameras, one radar, and 12 ultrasonic units. It supports highway and city navigation assist without high-definition maps, as well as remote, memory, and cross-floor parking. The suspension uses iDCS intelligent preview and CDC continuously variable damping, scanning the road 15 meters ahead to adjust damping in real time.

Safety is a priority, with the body developed to meet the latest C-NCAP (2024) five-star standards. High-strength steel accounts for 84% of the body, with 32% hot-formed steel reaching up to 2000 MPa. The car comes standard with nine airbags and 22 active safety features. The battery pack is IPX8-rated, capable of withstanding submersion in 3 meters of water for 120 hours.

The new H7 represents Hongqi's push into the electrified C-segment, combining traditional luxury attributes with modern hybrid efficiency and smart features. With its competitive pricing and extensive equipment, it aims to challenge established players in China's increasingly crowded new-energy sedan market.
