Great Wall Motor's Tank brand has unveiled the Tank 700 Hi4-Z, a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) off-road SUV that seeks to break the mold of traditional boxy off-roaders. Design and exterior features
The Tank 700 Hi4-Z features a design inspired by the qilin, a mythical Chinese creature, with a raised hood and angular body lines that convey a sense of power. The front grille uses a scale-like pattern, and the vehicle includes functional air vents and a front lip spoiler, which are unusual for an off-road model. The roof comes standard with a lidar sensor, flanked by marker lights styled like off-road lamps. The SUV stands nearly two meters tall, with a maximum wading depth of 900 mm (about 35.4 inches). Electric side steps are standard, easing entry and exit despite the high ground clearance.

Inside, the Tank 700 Hi4-Z offers a futuristic cabin with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 15.6-inch central touchscreen, both with high-resolution displays. The infotainment system runs on Coffee OS, powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chip, and supports Apple CarPlay, Huawei HiCar, and Carlink. The cabin is upholstered in premium leather and suede, with a redesigned center console that replaces the traditional gear shifter with a column-mounted stalk, freeing up storage space. Rear passengers get a 7-inch touch panel to control climate and entertainment, plus a 17.3-inch rear-seat entertainment screen. The rear center armrest includes cup holders and storage.
