Geely Xingyue L 2026: How to Choose Between Fuel and Hybrid Versions

Autohome's guide to the 2026 Geely Xingyue L explains the differences between the 2.0T petrol and new i-HEV hybrid versions, offering advice on which trim to pick based on driving needs and budget.

Geely's updated Xingyue L SUV, launched for the 2026 model year, is available with two petrol powertrains and a new non-plug-in hybrid option. According to Chinese automotive outlet Autohome, the fuel versions come in two outputs: a 2.0-litre turbo with 218 hp (160 kW) and 325 Nm paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT), and a higher-output 2.0-litre turbo with 272 hp (200 kW) and 400 Nm mated to an 8-speed automatic. The latter also adds features like 20-inch wheels, a 16-speaker audio system, and extra safety kit, justifying its higher price.

The high-output petrol version uses 95-octane fuel, while the lower-output variant runs on 92-octane. Autohome notes that both are mature powertrains proven over four to five years on the market. For buyers prioritising performance and not worried about fuel economy, the high-output version is recommended, especially as it is the only trim with all-wheel drive.

The Case for the i-HEV Hybrid

Geely also introduced an i-HEV (hybrid electric vehicle) version that does not require plugging in. Autohome claims it can cover over 1,000 km on a single tank, with fuel consumption roughly half that of the 2.0T petrol models, which typically average 9-10 L/100 km in city driving. The hybrid is aimed at buyers who want lower running costs without the hassle of charging.

The i-HEV lineup has three trims. Autohome advises skipping the base model and paying an extra 8,000 yuan (about $1,127) for the mid-tier trim, which adds 20-inch wheels, a front centre airbag, heated steering wheel, front seat lumbar support, rear seat heating, ventilated and massaging driver's seat, head-up display, and the 16-speaker audio system. The difference between mid and top trims is 6,000 yuan (about $845) and essentially boils down to Geely's Qianli Haohan H3 driver assistance system, which supports highway navigation but not city navigation.

Which Version Should You Buy?

Autohome's recommendation is straightforward: if you want strong performance and don't mind fuel costs, choose the high-output petrol version. If you prioritise fuel efficiency and features, go for the mid-tier i-HEV. The top hybrid trim is only worth it for frequent highway drivers who will benefit from the advanced driver assistance. The publication stresses that regardless of version, the Xingyue L offers solid space, materials, and ride quality for its price segment.

The article does not list specific prices for the 2026 Xingyue L, but the 8,000 yuan and 6,000 yuan differences between trims are mentioned. As with all Chinese guide prices, these are before taxes and incentives.
