Geely is preparing to launch the refreshed Emgrand Up series on October 25, according to Chinese auto outlet NetEase Auto. The update focuses on exterior and interior refinements, headlined by a new large floating touchscreen that replaces the previous infotainment setup.
Design and interior changes
The new model retains the overall silhouette of the current Emgrand, but the front grille has been simplified into a through-style opening, and the front bumper gains black decorative elements. New wheel designs add a more refined look, while the rear bumper has been restructured with a chrome strip that visually widens the tail.
Inside, the most significant change is the addition of a large floating central display. To accommodate the screen, the air vents and physical buttons have been repositioned lower, though physical controls remain. The cabin features a brown-and-black two-tone color scheme that Geely says gives a warmer feel.
Powertrain unchanged
The Emgrand Up continues with the existing 1.5L naturally aspirated engine, producing 120 hp (88 kW) and 150 Nm of torque, paired with either a CVT or a 5-speed manual gearbox. No electric or hybrid options have been announced for this update.
The Emgrand is one of Geely's best-selling sedans in China, and the Up trim adds sportier styling cues. The refreshed model is expected to compete in the compact sedan segment, where rivals include the Changan Yidong and the SAIC MG5. Pricing has not been disclosed yet, but the outgoing model starts around 69,900 yuan (about $9,800) as a Chinese guide price before taxes and incentives.
Geely has not confirmed whether the Emgrand Up will be exported. The brand currently sells the Emgrand in markets such as Russia and Southeast Asia under different nameplates, but no international launch date has been announced for this refreshed version.
The October 25 launch will mark the first major update to the Emgrand Up since its debut, and Geely is expected to release full specifications and pricing on that day.
