Geely has taken the wraps off its first new-energy hardcore SUV, the Galaxy Warship 700, at a global launch event in Hangzhou on October 10. The model, which enters the Chinese market with three powertrain options and six trim levels, carries a limited-time launch price starting at 169,800 yuan (about $23,900) — a Chinese guide price before taxes and incentives.
The Warship 700 is positioned as a family-oriented hardcore SUV that blends off-road capability with everyday comfort, a segment Geely says has long been defined by trade-offs between ruggedness and refinement. According to Chinese outlet D1EV, the vehicle introduces what the company calls a first-of-its-kind integrated frame that is embedded into the body structure, boosting torsional rigidity beyond 44,000 Nm per degree — more than double that of traditional ladder-frame off-roaders.
Powertrain and performance
Under the hood, the Warship 700 uses Geely's new Thunder EM-T hybrid system, which the automaker describes as the industry's first thousand-horsepower three-motor four-wheel-drive architecture. Total output is rated at 1,129 hp (about 1,145 PS). The system pairs two electronic differential locks with a mechanical rear lock that can engage in 200 milliseconds, allowing torque distribution from 0 to 100 percent across the four wheels.
Geely claims the top-spec 2.0T variant sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.95 seconds, with a combined driving range of up to 1,770 km on a full tank and charge. The battery pack, supplied by CATL, supports peak 6C fast charging, replenishing from 10 to 70 percent in 8 minutes and 25 seconds. The vehicle's combined fuel consumption in depleted-charge conditions is rated at 5 liters per 100 km.
The company also highlighted the Warship 700's AI-assisted off-road modes, including a one-touch intelligent hill-climb function and an all-terrain system that automatically detects road conditions and adjusts settings in milliseconds. A city-level navigation assistance system supports door-to-door driving and valet parking.
Celebrity endorsement and market ambitions
The launch event featured Hong Kong actor-singer Nicholas Tse, who appeared as the model's global ambassador — marking the first time in his 29-year career that he has endorsed a Chinese car brand. Geely framed the partnership as a meeting of two boundary-pushers, with Tse's evolution as an artist mirroring the brand's expansion into a new vehicle category.
Geely says the Warship 700 comes with nearly 200 standard features, including a 47 kWh battery in base configurations, a 10.6-meter hidden roll cage, and a body structure using ultra-high-strength and hot-formed steel throughout the passenger compartment. The company also claims best-in-class interior space, with an 80.3 percent cabin space efficiency ratio and a flat 1.8-meter bed when the rear seats are folded.
The Warship 700's launch marks Geely Galaxy's entry into the hardcore SUV segment, a category that has seen growing competition from domestic rivals. The company, which says it has accumulated 2.7 million users globally, is positioning the new model as a standard-setter for new-energy off-road vehicles. Deliveries are expected to begin shortly, with orders available through Geely Galaxy's app and dealerships.
