Fangchengbao's Ti 3, the compact urban-SUV member of BYD's off-road brand, has been refreshed for the 2026 model year with a new flash-charge variant that Autohome tested extensively. The 2026 Ti 3 620KM rear-drive flash-charge edition keeps the same angular, quasi-mecha styling as the 2025 car, but adds a free 'Starlight Purple' paint option that replaces the old Ice Crystal Blue. At 4,605mm long with a 2,745mm wheelbase, it's nearly 40cm longer than the rival iCAR V23, though the wheelbase advantage is just 10mm.

Flash-charge performance
The headline feature is the charging speed. Autohome plugged the car into a 600kW third-party ultra-fast charger at a service area and saw the battery climb from 8% to 81% in just 10 minutes, taking on 60.91kWh. The Ti 3 flash-charge edition uses BYD's second-generation Blade LFP battery with 75.6kWh capacity. On a highway run at an average 103km/h with the air conditioning at 23°C and two occupants, the car covered 171.7km between 80% and 30% state of charge, with the trip computer showing 23.6kWh/100km over the last 50km — a reminder that SUVs are thirsty at speed.

The motor output rises to 240kW (322hp) from 160kW in the non-flash version, with torque essentially unchanged at 305Nm. Curb weight for the rear-drive flash edition tops 2 tonnes for the first time at 2.08 tonnes. Autohome found the throttle response linear and the power ample for city and highway use. The standard DiSus-C adaptive suspension impressed: at 30km/h over speed bumps, even in Sport mode, impacts are well absorbed with minimal float, and Comfort mode avoids a boat-like feel. The turning circle is notably small, helping in tight U-turns and parallel parking.

Braking drew criticism. The pedal has a small dead zone at the top, then a sudden surge of deceleration past a threshold, causing nose-dive in stop-and-go traffic. Noise isolation is also a weak point — tyre roar becomes audible above 80km/h and wind noise around the A-pillars at 120km/h. The rear seats sit lower than the front with less thigh support, and a 186cm tester found rear legroom merely adequate, though child-seat anchors are easy to access behind plastic covers.

ADAS plays it conservative
The Ti 3 flash edition comes standard with BYD's God's Eye C system, offering highway navigation assist. Autohome found the basics work: the car nudges within its lane when a large truck passes and can handle standard ramps. But the tuning is cautious to a fault. It prefers the leftmost lane, rarely overtakes on the right, and reacts nervously to roadside cones and barriers even when they don't intrude into the lane. When merging from a ramp, it repeatedly aborted lane changes if a following car approached, and after several failed attempts it simply kept going straight — once driving off onto an exit lane. Approaching a ramp with a slow bus ahead and an empty left lane 1km before the exit, it followed the bus until it stopped, only merging when the driver signalled manually. In one instance with continuous construction barriers at a ramp, the system kept steering left until it demanded immediate takeover.
Service costs are low. Autohome calculated that over 100,000km, following the official alternating basic (385 yuan) and premium (675 yuan) service packages, total dealer maintenance comes to just 2,505 yuan (about $353) — roughly 200 yuan per 10,000km, with no oil changes needed. The rear-drive flash edition starts with 18-inch wheels and a manual tailgate, while the four-wheel-drive version gets 19-inch wheels and a powered tailgate. The 2026 flash editions add heated steering wheel and head-up display as standard, plus heated/ventilated front seats, 50W wireless charging and a 15.6-inch touchscreen.
Autohome's verdict: the flash-charge tech makes sense for buyers without home charging, cutting a charging stop to a coffee break. For those with a home charger, the non-flash version offers better value after discounts. Between the two flash editions, the 16,000 yuan (about $2,254) premium for four-wheel drive buys shorter range and higher consumption — worth it only for genuine off-road use, the reviewer concluded.
