Chinese automotive technology supplier Ecovacs Technology (Nasdaq: ECX) said on September 17 that its intelligent vehicle solutions have now been installed in more than 12 million vehicles worldwide, according to Gasgoo. The company's technology covers 18 automakers and 28 car brands, with deployments reaching 159 countries and regions.
In the first half of 2026 alone, Ecovacs added 914,000 new installations, with partner brands including Geely Auto, Hongqi, smart, Lotus, Polestar, Volvo Cars, Renault and Volkswagen. The company supplies automakers with a full stack of in-vehicle intelligence, including smart cockpits, OS-level software solutions, central computing platforms and driver assistance systems.
Flyme Auto momentum
In the software segment, Ecovacs' Flyme Auto smart cockpit operating system is growing steadily. From January to August this year, Flyme Auto added more than 1.17 million new installations, bringing its cumulative global total to over 3.44 million vehicles.
The rising installation numbers are feeding through to the company's finances. In its second-quarter 2026 financial report, Ecovacs posted total revenue of $225 million, up 45 percent year on year. Product sales contributed $196 million, up 50 percent, while service revenue reached $28.1 million, up 21 percent.
Gross margin improved to 19.8 percent from 10.8 percent a year earlier, and gross profit jumped 165 percent year on year. Ecovacs said it has now been profitable for four consecutive quarters.
Context
Ecovacs is one of several Chinese suppliers competing in the fast-growing smart cockpit and driver assistance market, alongside players such as Huawei and Desay SV. Its Flyme Auto system is developed in partnership with smartphone maker Meizu, which Geely acquired in 2022, and is used across Geely's portfolio of brands.
The company's global expansion reflects a broader trend of Chinese automotive technology suppliers winning business with international automakers, as Western brands seek cost-effective software and cockpit solutions for their China-made and global models.
