Doubao Phone Assistant passes China's first end-cloud confidential computing certification

Doubao Phone Assistant, developed by Beijing Chuntian Zhiyun, has become one of the first products in China to pass the Tai'er Lab's end-cloud collaborative confidential computing evaluation, achieving an L5 security level.

Beijing Chuntian Zhiyun Technology's Doubao Phone Assistant has become one of the first products in China to pass a new end-cloud collaborative confidential computing evaluation conducted by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT), according to IThome (IThome). The assessment, carried out by CAICT's Tai'er Terminal Laboratory, tested the assistant across 15 sub-items including trusted execution environments, remote attestation, encryption, key management, and AI service security.

What the L5 rating means

The evaluation divided capabilities into five security levels, from L1 to L5, with Doubao Phone Assistant achieving the top L5 rating. The certification covers three major areas: end-side business system security, end-cloud collaborative security, and cloud-cloud collaborative security. The testing framework, based on the "End-Cloud Collaborative Confidential Computing Technical Specification," examined how well the assistant protects user information during transmission, storage, computation, and inference.

Doubao Phone Assistant embeds privacy protection into its architecture, using device hardware trust roots, trusted execution environments, access isolation, and key management. User operation data is encrypted throughout transmission and only decrypted within a verified cloud confidential environment, with memory encryption and integrity checks applied across the full processing chain.

Consumer version launches with Nubia NaviX Ultra

The consumer version of Doubao Phone Assistant was officially released today, supporting voice activation and a dedicated AI key with fingerprint authentication. The fingerprint feature allows users to invoke the assistant without a second unlock after verification. Voice wake-up has been optimized for far-field, noisy, and crowded environments.

The first consumer version will ship pre-installed on the Nubia NaviX Ultra smartphone, which is now available for reservation and goes on sale September 16. The assistant also introduces a GUI cooperation agreement that lets third-party apps allow or deny AI automation operations.

As AI assistants become more embedded in daily life, concerns about personal data leakage in end-cloud scenarios have grown. This certification marks an early step toward standardized security verification for such systems in China, according to IThome.
