On September 11, the Yijing X9, a large six-seat SUV jointly developed by Dongfeng and Huawei Qiankun, underwent a live, unedited public-road test of its Huawei Qiankun ADS 5 intelligent driving system in Chongqing. The test, broadcast via multiple live streams, covered a roughly 61-kilometer route through the city's challenging terrain, including multi-level interchanges, narrow old-town streets, tunnel clusters, and mountain switchbacks, according to PCauto.
Hardware and Architecture
The Yijing X9 is equipped with a four-laser sensing setup, including an 896-line dual-optical-path image-grade lidar and a high-precision solid-state lidar, totaling 32 sensors. The vehicle uses the WEWA 2.0 architecture, which leverages extensive road-test data and a cloud-based simulation upgraded to group-game scenarios to improve handling of unexpected road events. The CAS 5.0 all-dimensional collision avoidance system provides protection across directions and speed ranges: forward AEB operates from 1 to 150 km/h, rear AEB from 1 to 60 km/h, and lateral collision avoidance from 10 to 130 km/h.
The system supports urban and park cruise assistance, handling commuting, highway driving, park navigation, and parking. In the Chongqing test, the vehicle completed tasks such as recognizing elevated road levels, traffic lights, and following traffic, and it could autonomously navigate some urban roads without navigation. The lidar can identify obstacles as low as 14 centimeters at a distance of 120 meters.
Interior and Chassis
The cabin features a 75-inch enhanced AR-HUD that projects navigation and road alerts onto the windshield. The HUAWEI XMC six-domain integrated digital chassis includes an all-aluminum chassis, dual-chamber air suspension, and EDC continuously variable damping shock absorbers, coordinating power, braking, steering, and suspension for precise control.
The Yijing X9, which opened pre-sales on August 18, saw 21,235 orders within 24 hours, with the official launch scheduled for late September. The public live test offered a transparent look at how advanced driver assistance performs in real-world complex urban environments, providing a reference for the industry's adoption of high-level intelligent driving.
