Dongfeng unveils three core plans at 10th tech week, targets 10 million charging points

Dongfeng Motor launched its 'Tianjing Zero Carbon' plan, an embodied-intelligence safety initiative and a global expansion strategy at its 10th technology innovation week in Wuhan, aiming to deploy over 10 million charging facilities and cut carbon emissions by 1 million tonnes annually.

Dongfeng Motor opened its 10th technology innovation week and first user life festival in Wuhan on September 14, unveiling three major strategic plans alongside a new user service brand. The event, themed 'East Wind Rises, Painting a New Life with Intelligence,' showcased the state-owned automaker's latest advances in digital intelligence, energy, safety and global expansion, according to PCauto.

Zero-carbon and safety plans

Dongfeng's 'Tianjing Zero Carbon' plan, announced by general manager Feng Changjun, outlines a '1331' strategic framework targeting three pillars: green, convenient and symbiotic development. The company aims to aggregate more than 10 million charging facilities through ecosystem partners, covering all user travel scenarios, and to reduce carbon emissions by over 1 million tonnes annually - equivalent to planting 50 million trees each year.

The automaker also introduced its 'Embodied Intelligent Vehicle Full-Domain Protection Plan,' led by vice president You Zheng. The initiative pursues a 'six-zero' vision of zero casualties, zero fires, zero hazards, zero accidents, zero leaks and zero losses, built on a '1+6+4' technical system comprising one embodied-intelligence foundation, six safety technology domains and four industry collaboration ecosystems.

Global push and partnerships

Dongfeng's 'Sky Sail' plan, unveiled by vice president Zhou Feng, sets a '125' layout for international growth: one core base in China, two strategic highlands in Europe and the Americas for passenger cars and in the Americas and North-Central Asia for commercial vehicles, and five key regions including Southeast Asia, North-Central Asia, the Middle East, North-Central Africa and Australia-New Zealand.

The company also deepened partnerships at the event. It released a white paper on automotive full-domain safety in the embodied-intelligence era with central enterprises, industry bodies and universities, and inaugurated a Dongfeng branch of the State Key Laboratory for Intelligent Green Vehicles and Transportation. A strategic cooperation agreement with Wuhan University of Technology will focus on next-generation energy systems and advanced body and chassis technologies.

Dongfeng chairman Yang Qing said the company has accumulated over 64 million users and will embrace artificial intelligence while focusing on green, low-carbon industries and supply-chain security. The 'Dongfeng Youxin' user service brand, launched on September 13, promises standardized purchasing, personalized test drives, warm delivery and a '111' service standard.

The tech week also displayed new models including the Mengshi M817, Yijing X9 and Dongfeng Fengshen L8+, alongside commercial vehicles such as battery-electric tractors, hydrogen fuel-cell tractors and solid-state battery vans. Exhibits featured the Quantum Architecture 4.0 and 12C ultra-fast charging cells, with test drives at the Longlingshan proving ground and a link to the IAA Transportation show in Hanover.
