The Yijing X9, a flagship family battery-electric vehicle (BEV) developed jointly by Dongfeng Motor and Huawei, has begun nationwide deliveries. The first batch of owners received their cars at a ceremony held on October 18 at Huawei's Songshan Lake campus in Dongguan, Guangdong province, according to Chinese auto media PCauto.
Hong Kong actor Aaron Kwok, the brand's global ambassador and the first person to place an order for the X9, personally handed over customized keys to owners at the event. Fellow actor Felix Lui, a self-described car enthusiast, also appeared as an X9 owner, saying he decided to buy after test-driving the vehicle on Kwok's recommendation.
Strong order take-up
The X9, which went on sale on September 24, received 9,157 firm orders within its first 24 hours. PCauto reported that mid- and high-spec variants, priced at 319,800 yuan (about $45,000) and 359,800 yuan (about $50,700) as limited-time offers, accounted for 95 percent of orders. The average transaction price exceeded 340,000 yuan (about $47,900). These are Chinese guide prices before taxes and incentives.
The vehicle is the first model from the Yijing brand, created through a deep collaboration between Dongfeng and Huawei. The companies invested billions of yuan and deployed a 5,000-strong joint team to integrate Dongfeng's 57 years of vehicle manufacturing experience with Huawei's intelligent vehicle technologies.
The X9 comes standard with Huawei's Qiankun ADS 5 advanced driver assistance system, a 896-line lidar, and a full-aluminum chassis. It features a HarmonySpace 6 cockpit with dual 17.2-inch screens and 43 storage compartments. The company says the car's "Sky Shield" safety architecture provides all-around protection through prediction, intervention, and post-incident support.
Expanding service network
Yijing plans to expand its sales and service network under a "1+N" model, aiming to cover 90 cities with 400 experience outlets and provide service in 150 cities by October 2026. The brand also promises a "15-minute smart service circle" and access to 2.8 million charging points through an integrated Dongfeng-Huawei charging ecosystem.
The delivery ceremony at Songshan Lake, a major Huawei research and development hub, underscored the depth of the partnership. Huawei's vice president for intelligent automotive solutions, Chi Linchun, and Yijing brand general manager Zeng Qinglin both attended, with Zeng emphasizing the company's commitment to quality and service. As the X9 rolls out across 100 cities, the joint venture aims to position the model as a new benchmark for Chinese premium family EVs.
