Dongfeng's first strategic model co-developed with Huawei, the Yijing X9, has entered the premium SUV market with an average transaction price exceeding 340,000 yuan (about $47,900), according to Chinese automotive media outlet 电动邦 (Dian Dong Bang). The model, launched on September 24, has seen strong demand, with over 9,157 firm orders within the first 24 hours.
The Yijing X9 is a large six-seat SUV offered in two main variants: the EREV (range-extender) four-wheel-drive Ultra+ long-range version at 319,800 yuan (about $45,000) and the Ultra+ flagship long-range version at 359,800 yuan (about $50,700). These two trims account for 95% of all orders, with the average transaction price surpassing 340,000 yuan, placing it in the same price band as Zeekr and Lexus models. Prices are Chinese guide prices before taxes and incentives.
High-spec demand driven by family needs
According to 电动邦 (Dian Dong Bang), the order mix reflects a shift among family buyers toward fully equipped vehicles. The base version includes Huawei's ADS 5 advanced driver assistance system, four-laser multi-dimensional perception, an 896-line dual-optical-path image-grade LiDAR, and full-dimensional collision avoidance CAS 5.0. The chassis features Huawei's Qiankun Chitu platform, dual-chamber air suspension with continuously variable damping, rear-wheel steering, and an all-aluminum body.
The 319,800 yuan version is powered by a CATL 74.29 kWh battery pack with an 800V architecture, offering a CLTC range of 432 kilometers (about 268 miles; WLTP est. 345-367 km). It also includes a 21.4-inch rear ceiling screen and a zero-gravity seat for the second-row right side. The 359,800 yuan flagship adds Huawei's XPIXEL million-pixel projector headlights, smart power doors, 21-inch wheels with Michelin tires, dual zero-gravity seats in the second row, and Nappa leather upholstery, along with Huawei's XSCENE in-car laser projector and dual 17.2-inch screens.
Full-stack co-creation and delivery push
The Yijing X9 is the first product from a full-stack native co-creation model between Dongfeng and Huawei, integrating research, production, supply, sales, and service. This approach allows the vehicle to offer flagship-level features at a more accessible price point, according to the report.
Delivery has been a focus, with the first batch of customer cars handed over on October 18 at Huawei's Songshan Lake campus in Dongguan. The company has pledged to accelerate deliveries without compromising quality, with both Dongfeng and Huawei executives overseeing logistics daily.
The Yijing X9's strong order book and high average transaction price demonstrate that consumers are willing to pay for complete, uncompromising product value, positioning the brand alongside established premium players from its first model.
