Denza has launched the battery-electric (BEV) version of its N8L large six-seat SUV in China, adding a pure-electric option to a model line that already includes a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variant. The two trim levels are priced at 299,800 yuan and 329,800 yuan (about $42,200 and $46,500) as Chinese guide prices before taxes and incentives, according to Chinese outlet 电动邦 (Dian Dong Bang).
AI assistant and 960 km range headline the launch
The headline feature is Didi Xia, which Denza describes as the industry's first AI agent for cars. Built on the Xuanji Architecture 2.0, it uses agent-based scheduling to break down vague voice commands into sequences of actions, such as planning a route with multiple stops or adjusting climate, seats and ambient lighting simultaneously. Denza says the system supports open protocols including A2A and MCP, allowing third-party AI agents to be integrated later.
Range is the other major selling point. The N8L BEV packs a 130.15 kWh second-generation Blade Battery and claims a CLTC range of 960 km, which roughly translates to an estimated 770-820 km under the more conservative WLTP cycle. The company quotes a drag coefficient of 0.252 and energy consumption of 13.55 kWh per 100 km. Charging is equally aggressive: Denza says the flash-charging system can take the battery from 10% to 70% in five minutes and to 97% in nine minutes, or 12 minutes even at minus 30 degrees Celsius. The flash-charging stations use 1,500 kW single-gun chargers with on-site energy storage to ease grid strain.
Denza said more than 10,000 flash-charging stations have been built across 332 Chinese cities as of the end of August, with plans for 2,000 highway charging stations by the end of 2026.
Big space, family-focused features
The N8L BEV measures 5,200 mm long, 1,999 mm wide and 1,820 mm tall with a 3,075 mm wheelbase. Denza highlights a 6.11-square-metre interior floor area, third-row seats that slide 100 mm, and 50 storage compartments including a 208-litre front trunk with dry-wet separation. The cabin uses Nappa leather, a zero-gravity front passenger seat, queen-style leg rests in the middle row and heated third-row seats, plus a Devialet audio system and a 50-inch AR head-up display.
Safety features include a body with 91% high-strength steel and high-strength aluminium, a 2,000 MPa A-pillar, nine airbags and a 67-litre side curtain airbag covering all three rows. Denza also claims the car stayed stable in tests including a tyre blowout at 150 km/h, strong crosswinds at 135 km/h and emergency lane changes at 120 km/h. The second-generation Blade Battery passed tests including piercing while fast-charging, simultaneous short-circuit of four cells, and a bottom impact at 10 times the new national standard.
The N8L BEV rides on the Yunian-A air suspension with road preview, offers rear-wheel steering of up to 7 degrees for a 5.45-metre turning radius, and stops from 100 km/h in 35.4 metres. Buyers who order before October 31 can claim up to about 100,000 yuan in launch benefits, including up to 49,000 yuan in option credits, up to 20,000 yuan in trade-in subsidies, a free year of Didi Xia, a free year of flash charging and a one-year city pilot assistance safety guarantee.
With the BEV now on sale, the N8L series covers both powertrains, and Denza positions the pure-electric version for families who mainly drive in cities and want lower running costs, while the PHEV suits buyers with frequent long-distance needs or limited charging access.
