Chinese chipmaker Yaoxin wins Gaishi award for EV power MOSFET

Yaoxin Microelectronics' automotive-grade shielded-gate trench MOSFET AK3G4N005GAM-A wins the 2026 Jinji Award for Best Technology Practice Application, highlighting China's progress in automotive power semiconductors.

Chinese semiconductor maker Yaoxin Microelectronics has won a top industry award for its automotive-grade power chip, underscoring the country's push to localize key components for electric vehicles. The company's shielded-gate trench MOSFET, model AK3G4N005GAM-A, received the Best Technology Practice Application prize at the eighth Jinji Awards, hosted by automotive media and data firm Gasgoo in Shanghai on October 23, 2026.

The Jinji Awards, organized by Gasgoo, recognize technologies that have moved from research to mass production and deliver tangible value to the automotive supply chain. This year's theme, "China Solutions Going Global," highlights technologies validated in the domestic market that can be replicated worldwide. According to Gasgoo, the selection process drew on a supply-chain database covering 320,000 companies, with multiple rounds of expert review.

A chip built for EV drivetrains

The AK3G4N005GAM-A is designed for motor drive and battery management systems in new energy vehicles. It achieves an industry-leading on-resistance (Ron) of about 0.4 milliohms in a compact PDFN5x6 package, thanks to process optimizations that also reduce the temperature coefficient of Ron. In motor drive applications, the lower power loss frees up thermal headroom, which can translate into longer driving range and more stable torque output under sustained load, according to the company.

Yaoxin said the award validates its engineering capabilities in automotive-grade power semiconductors, a segment where domestic Chinese suppliers have been gaining ground. The company plans to continue developing high-reliability, high-performance power devices tailored to real-world EV needs, aiming to offer "Chinese solutions" that can compete globally.

The win comes as China's EV industry increasingly relies on locally made chips for critical functions, reducing dependence on imported semiconductors. Yaoxin's MOSFET is a key component in power conversion and management, areas where performance directly affects vehicle efficiency and range.
