China Mobile launches AI trusted computing platform with encrypted tokens

China Mobile unveiled AI Trusted Computing (AITC) at the 2026 China Computing Power Conference, offering confidential computing and encrypted tokens for secure AI training and inference on public clouds.

China Mobile unveiled its AI Trusted Computing (AITC) platform at the 2026 China Computing Power Conference on September 12, aiming to bring hardware-level security to AI workloads running on public cloud infrastructure. The state-owned telecom operator said the platform integrates confidential computing, domestic cryptography, and privacy-preserving information flow controls into its mobile cloud, which is built on a fully domestic hardware stack.

According to IThome, AITC provides "confidential computing power in multiple forms" and "confidential tokens" that let enterprises use public cloud AI services with the security assurances of a private cloud. The system is designed to address data leakage, model theft, and trust deficits that have hindered AI adoption in sensitive sectors such as financial risk control, government services, industrial manufacturing, medical diagnostics, and university research.

Three layers of protection

China Mobile describes AITC as delivering security across three dimensions. For data, end-to-end encryption replaces traditional plaintext processing, making data "usable but invisible." For models, the platform supports confidential deployment of AI models on public cloud infrastructure, running entirely in encrypted form to prevent extraction—a capability it calls "computable but not extractable." For the environment, hardware-level attestation replaces conventional boundary defenses, ensuring that the execution environment remains trustworthy and unmodified throughout.

The company also claims an industry first by deeply integrating its AI-eSIM and Super SIM technologies, creating an "IoT plus human network" end-to-end security solution. This extends protection to terminal devices at the chip level, physically preventing key leakage and data tampering, according to China Mobile.

Ecosystem building

At the conference, China Mobile launched a strategic cooperation for AITC ecosystem development alongside partners including China Electronics, Bank of China, CNNC, the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, Huawei, ZTE, Alibaba Cloud, Inspur, Hygon, Moore Threads, and Zhaoxin. The initiative builds on a joint body for AI confidential computing among central state-owned enterprises.

The announcement comes as China pushes for greater adoption of AI in critical industries while emphasizing data security and technological self-reliance. AITC's focus on domestic hardware and cryptographic standards aligns with Beijing's broader push for secure and sovereign computing infrastructure.
