Changan Kaicheng has launched the V919 Glory Edition 8-Square, a battery-electric (BEV) delivery van aimed at urban logistics operators, with a limited-time price starting at 88,900 yuan (about $12,500). The launch, reported by Chinese outlet 电动邦 (Dian Dong Bang), includes multiple purchase incentives such as platform pricing, trade-in subsidies, and financing discounts.
Cargo capacity and efficiency
The V919 Glory Edition 8-Square is designed to maximize loading efficiency. Its cargo box is 1,740mm wide, 40mm wider than comparable models, allowing an extra standard pallet space per row. The 3,380mm length accommodates large items like 3.3-meter building materials and bulky furniture without diagonal placement, reducing wasted space. The wheel-arch spacing of 1,320mm and a 1,450mm-wide rear door facilitate loading of large boxes and bundled pipes, while the 1,990mm vehicle height fits into 2-meter height-restricted underground garages and urban commercial areas.
The van uses a battery from CATL (Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited) cells, supplied by Times Changan. It offers a CLTC range of up to 355km (approximately 220 miles WLTP est.), and supports 2C fast charging, adding 200km of range in 15 minutes. Energy consumption is as low as 15.1kWh per 100km, helping reduce operating costs. The battery has ten-layer physical protection, IP68 dust and water resistance, and 24-hour cloud monitoring, meeting the 2026 battery national standard, and comes with an 8-year or 600,000km warranty. According to official data, compared with a similar diesel van, the V919 can save about 100,000 yuan (about $14,100) in energy costs over five years, plus nearly 15,000 yuan (about $2,100) in maintenance and downtime savings.
Safety and durability
The V919 is equipped with an IBCU (Integrated Brake Control Unit) by-wire braking system. In official tests, the fully loaded van achieved an emergency braking distance of 21.53 meters from 70km/h, 3.4 meters shorter than comparable models. It comes standard with ESC (Electronic Stability Control) and hill-start assist. The body uses a ten-longitudinal, five-transverse frame structure and a cage-type high-strength body, with 68.5% high-strength steel. The rear suspension uses five progressive leaf springs, two to three more than rivals, enhancing load capacity. The rear-wheel-drive layout improves traction under load. The van has undergone extreme environment testing from -40°C to 48°C and accumulated over 3 million kilometers of real-world road testing across 140 conditions.
The V919 Glory Edition 8-Square is positioned as a practical tool for urban delivery drivers, focusing on loading efficiency, operational uptime, and long-term cost. The limited-time price of 88,900 yuan (about $12,500) is a Chinese guide price before taxes and incentives. Whether it truly enhances earning potential will depend on local freight demand, actual loading patterns, and daily mileage, according to the report.
