Changan Kaicheng has launched the V919 Glory Edition 8-cubic-meter electric van in China, with a limited-time promotional price starting at 88,900 yuan (about $12,500). The new model is aimed at urban delivery drivers, offering a wide cargo box, a battery from Times Changan with CATL cells, and an integrated brake-by-wire system, according to NetEase Auto.
Designed for urban delivery efficiency
The V919 Glory Edition features a cargo box that is 1,740 mm wide, 40 mm wider than rivals in its class, allowing an extra standard cargo slot per row. The box is 3,380 mm long, accommodating 3.3-meter-long building materials or large furniture without diagonal placement. The wheel-arch spacing of 1,320 mm enables multi-customer parcel consolidation, and the 1,450 mm-wide rear door allows large boxes to be pushed in directly without unpacking. The van's 1,990 mm height permits access to underground garages with 2-meter height limits.
The vehicle is powered by a battery from Times Changan, a joint venture between Changan and CATL, with CATL cells. It offers a CLTC range of up to 355 km (estimated WLTP range: around 290-300 km). The battery supports 2C fast charging, adding 200 km of range in 15 minutes. Energy consumption is rated at 15.1 kWh per 100 km, with a running cost of less than 0.1 yuan per kilometer (about 1.4 US cents). The battery has ten-layer physical protection, IP68 dust and water resistance, and 24-hour cloud monitoring, meeting the 2026 battery safety standard. It comes with an 8-year or 600,000 km warranty.
Safety and durability features
The V919 Glory Edition is built on a light-truck platform with a ten-longitudinal and five-transverse frame structure and a cage-type high-strength body, with high-strength steel accounting for 68.5% of the body. It features an IBCU (integrated brake control unit) brake-by-wire system, which the company says reduces the 70 km/h emergency braking distance to 21.53 meters when fully loaded, 3.4 meters shorter than rivals. The van comes standard with ESC and hill-start assist. It uses a five-leaf progressive rear leaf spring setup, two to three more leaves than competitors, and rear-wheel drive for better traction on slippery slopes.
The vehicle has undergone extreme environment testing from -40°C to 48°C and over 3 million kilometers of real-world testing across more than 140 conditions. Changan Kaicheng claims that compared with a similar gasoline van, the electric model saves about 100,000 yuan (about $14,100) in energy costs over five years, plus nearly 15,000 yuan (about $2,100) in maintenance and downtime savings.
