CATL and Seres sign long-term deal, Aito to keep using CATL batteries

CATL and Seres Group signed a long-term strategic cooperation agreement on October 10, covering battery supply, capacity expansion, charging services, and overseas markets. Aito models will continue to use CATL batteries, with cumulative deliveries surpassing 1.2 million units.

Chinese battery giant CATL and Seres Group, the parent company of the Aito brand, signed a long-term strategic cooperation agreement on October 10 in Chongqing. The deal ensures that all current and future Aito models will continue to be powered by CATL batteries, according to PCauto.

Since the launch of the Aito brand, every model has used CATL-supplied power batteries. Cumulative deliveries have now exceeded 1.2 million units. The new agreement marks a deeper phase in their partnership, with cooperation focusing on three core areas: capacity construction, charging infrastructure, and global expansion.

Capacity expansion at Seres super factory

A key part of the agreement is the acceleration of the second phase of the "factory-within-a-factory" project at Seres' super factory. This phase has a planned annual capacity of 10 to 12 GWh. Once fully operational, the combined annual capacity of both phases will exceed 20 GWh. This integrated upstream-downstream production model aims to strengthen supply chain resilience and competitiveness, while supporting Chongqing's ambition to build a trillion-yuan high-end intelligent connected new-energy vehicle industrial cluster.

In the charging and battery services sector, the two companies will collaborate on ultra-fast charging network deployment and battery-related services, creating a full-lifecycle battery service system to improve the daily charging experience for Aito owners.

Expanding overseas together

For international markets, CATL and Seres will jointly develop new energy vehicle markets in Europe, the Middle East, and Central Asia. The partnership aims to bring high-quality new energy vehicles and supporting services to global customers, positioning Chinese smart manufacturing as a benchmark for exports.

CATL stated that it will continue to uphold a long-term approach, supporting the partnership through technological innovation and efficient supply chain collaboration, to drive the high-quality development of the new energy vehicle industry.
