The updated BYD Yuan Plus compact electric SUV has grown in size, and the extra space is immediately noticeable inside. According to Autohome, which spent time with the car, a 179 cm tall driver can set the front seat low and still have ample headroom, aided by a panoramic glass roof with a physical sunshade to block strong sunlight in summer.

The front seats offer a balanced firmness with good support, and the side bolsters hold occupants in place during cornering. Both the seatback and cushion angles can be adjusted in multiple directions, making it easier to find a comfortable driving position for daily commutes or short road trips.

Rear Seat and Storage
Keeping the front seat in place, the second row benefits from the longer wheelbase, providing generous legroom even with the front seat set for a tall driver. Headroom remains sufficient for taller passengers, and the rear bench features the same well-judged padding with good thigh support. The flat floor and wide cabin mean three adults can sit in the back without feeling cramped.

Storage is thoughtfully arranged throughout the cabin. A so-called "inspiration window" ahead of the front passenger offers a cubby with a power outlet for gadgets or small items, the centre console includes a dedicated tissue box holder, and two drawers sit under the rear seats. The two higher trim levels add a cool box that can chill or warm contents from -6°C to 50°C.

Up front, the Yuan Plus has a large 180-litre frunk with electric opening, triggered by two taps. However, the closing force is strong and the anti-pinch function is not very sensitive, a safety detail Autohome flagged as needing improvement, especially for families with young children.
Boot Capacity
The boot is a highlight. With a two-level adjustable floor, it offers 750 litres in its standard configuration, enough for a stroller and travel luggage. Dropping the floor reveals hidden storage for tools and odds and ends. Folding the rear seats expands the space to 1,750 litres with a long, flat load floor that can swallow camping gear or a child's balance bike.
Overall, Autohome concluded that the new Yuan Plus maximises the usable space of a compact electric SUV, with class-leading room for passengers and cargo. The only criticisms were a few storage bins that could be larger and the frunk's closing mechanism. The review did not include pricing or range figures.
