BYD Han EV Flash Charge Edition Hits 58% Battery in 9 Minutes at 600kW Charger

BYD's Han EV Flash Charge Edition, equipped with second-generation blade battery, charges from 22% to 80% in under 9 minutes using a 600kW fast charger, according to Autohome's test.

BYD's Han EV Flash Charge Edition has demonstrated remarkable charging speed in a real-world test, reaching 58% battery capacity in just nine minutes. According to Autohome, the test used a 600kW fast charger at a highway service area, taking the battery from 22% to 80% and adding 43.58kWh of energy. This performance puts the vehicle ahead of most rivals in its price segment.

Design and Interior Updates

The Flash Charge Edition retains the Han's overall design but introduces key interior upgrades. The glossy black piano paint on the center console has been replaced with soft-touch materials, addressing fingerprint and scratch issues common in older models. The gear shifter is now a stalk-mounted unit, freeing up space for a more organized storage area, including two phone slots with a 50W wireless charger.

Practicality remains strong: the front door pockets hold five water bottles, and the trunk fits six 20-inch carry-on suitcases plus two backpacks. However, headroom is tight for tall passengers—a 186cm tester found front and rear headroom limited due to the low roofline.

Driving Experience and Recommendations

The driving dynamics are comfort-oriented, with soft steering, gradual throttle response, and a suspension tuned for smoothness. The standard Cloud-Chassis C (云辇C) system absorbs bumps well in Comfort mode, though body motion over joints is noticeable. Sport mode tightens things up but adds road feel. The steering is vague, and the car doesn't encourage spirited driving—it's built for relaxed commuting.

The seat height is notably high, which may reduce thigh support for taller drivers. Autohome advises anyone over 180cm to test the car in person before buying.

Autohome recommends the Flash Charge Edition over other Han variants, with the high-spec Zunrong trim offering the best value. For an extra 8,000 yuan (about $1,127), buyers get heated steering wheel, front seat massage, rear seat ventilation and heating, a refrigerated box, a 12-speaker Dynaudio audio system, and a fragrance system. Currently, there are no cash discounts at dealerships, but potential buyers can negotiate other incentives.
