BYD has introduced the Han EV Flash Charge Edition, a model that underscores the brand's push on charging speed as a key differentiator in China's crowded electric sedan market. According to Autohome, which conducted a detailed review, the car retains the familiar Dragon Face design but adds subtle updates and a focus on practicality.
Design and Interior Updates
The exterior largely carries over the existing Han EV styling, with the signature split headlights and closed-off grille. However, in colors like fog gold, pine shadow green, and weiyang gray, buyers get a blacked-out trim package that removes most chrome accents, giving a sportier look. The test car, in black, showed fewer changes. The side profile is unchanged, with the car measuring 4,995 mm (196.7 inches) in length and a wheelbase of 2,920 mm (115.0 inches), figures that are now average for the segment as rivals have grown past 5 meters.
Inside, the most notable change is the standard DiLink 100 smart cockpit, which includes remote control via a smartphone app and external voice alerts. The center console now uses soft-touch materials instead of the previous glossy black plastic, which was prone to fingerprints and scratches. The gear selector moves to a stalk behind the steering wheel, freeing up space for two phone slots, one with a 50W wireless charging pad. Higher trims add a cool box. Comfort and Space Trade-offs
Front seats offer good support with thick padding, but the driving position sits high, and the seat cushion is low, leading to thigh fatigue on long trips. Rear passengers enjoy a wide, soft cushion, but at 186 cm (6'1"), the tester found the seat height lacking, and headroom is tight in both rows due to the car's roofline. Storage is a strong point, with a front door bin that holds five water bottles and a spacious glovebox. The trunk, tested with a 20-inch carry-on, fits six cases and leaves room for two backpacks, but the rear seats do not fold down to expand space.
The Han EV Flash Charge Edition is a clear attempt by BYD to address range anxiety through faster charging, though the review did not provide specific charging times or battery specs. The model also features BYD's "God's Eye" driver assistance system, as indicated by the Chinese badges on the rear.
